PMR and Covid

Hello to all.

Read an article today on BBC News "Coronavirus: What does Covid-19 do to the brain?" about the effects of Covid on Paul Mylrea, his immune system response causing subsequent strokes. I will post a link immediately following since it will probably be held for moderator review, you can google it to read from the bold quote above.

My question: Does anyone know of any data about PMR patients having increased of decreased risks of exposure to Covid? Probably not much data out there, but was wondering if our immune systems put us at higher or lower risk for adverse effects of Covid infection?

Best to all. The Link will be immediately following.

If you come over to the HealthUnlocked forum we have several people who have had it and recovered. One was 88 year old petros whose journey was on the BBC programme about the London hospital Covid experience. Snazzy has also had it - still gets the cycling returning symptoms. A few more too. And suspected cases - who had something suspicious in March or even sooner before it was on the horizon.

I think they are still looking at the accumulated info which the rheumatologists set up. It is difficult - one would imagine that the numbers in the UK are low because of shielding bit maybe less so in the US. Anecdotally, doctors are saying they have seen fewer autoimmune disorder patients in hospital with Covid - which fits with that theory.

The link with stroke is the effect Covid has which increases clotting, resulting in widespread ischaemic events in tissue. Some were recommending giving hospitalised patients anticoagulant therapy from admission. It also affects the kidneys badly, some patients needed dialysis in ICU, and patients are being found with diabetes - so is that damage to the pancreas?
