Hi Pauline, I have not experienced any coccyx pain. My pain and stiffness is primarily in my shoulders, hips, groin, and knees. I was on prednisone 5mg for 2 1/2 months. It resolved 95% of the pain. I couldn't tolerate the side effects. I became short of breath, hyper and fatigued, short tempered, sleep disturbance, and just felt out of sorts. I've been dealing with the pain by taking supplements and eating foods for inflammation and immune building. Some days are worse then others. I hope the PMR resolves in a year or two like they say.

I'm sorry to hear your side effecs to such a small amt. of prednisone.  i have little side effects on this dose, have increased to 6 for now, but doing great, maybe some mood swings at times.  What do you take in the loineof supplements and inflammation & immune building foods?

Pauline, I've never had that problem.  Hope it gets better!   Elinor

I also have coccyx pain and discomfort such being diagnosed with PMR. Certain chairs I sit on really cause me discomfort. Also whenever I go for massage, the therapist always tells me my coccyx and lower back are inflamed.

I have a very painful sacrum and coccyx and I believe it's inflammation from PMR.  I can't lie flat on my back in bed - I always have a pillow under my knees.

My massage therapist works on it once a week which provides some relief. Stretching does help, but I can't do it until mid morning when the drugs start working their magic!
