I was diagnosed with PMR and doctors insisted that steroids were the only way to go. To me they sounded like a death sentence so I refused and changed my doctor. I started on a more healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables I cut down on bread and anything from nightshade family, and I avoided any processed foods. I did continue to eat fresh meat and dairy products. I also took supplements. these were turmeric,& magnesium, which I believe have been the main ones but there were others as well. Vit a,b,c and d. burdock root, GLA ,pomegranate and zinc. I wanted to build up my immune system and make sure my mineral requirements were being met. I noticed a big difference after a week. I also do chigong (just 8 basic movements) to help knee strength and yes it was very painful to begin with but not now. I started bush walking again and can now go in pretty steep places without pain. It has been a battle but has paid off and as a foot note. I drink homebrewed beer and wine with no ill affects. I take no drugs as all and this includes perscription and over the counter ones

A lot of us here have tried remedies, diet, exercise and the like, but very few will say they got on comfortably for long without prednisone.
