PMR and GCA

I was diagnosed with PMR about a year ago and have been on prednisone (20 and weaning to 6 currently).  Have recently started having bad headaches in the temporal area every afternoon.  Tolerable but bad.  I am concerned that I may be developing GCA but headaches seem to be the only sympton so far.  No vision issues.  I do have a bad taste in my mouth but had my sinuses checked out and they seem fine.  Any guidance?

    Hi

How were you dignosed with PMR? Was it by blood test or scans?

PMR was diagnosed by reaction to Prednisone and 'classic' onset symptons - shoulders, neck, arms then moving to hip girdle.  Now c protein shows high but sed rate has been mostly in normal range.

So the pain should be in both sides of the body? It can't be only on one side? Beacuse in my case only my left side from the head to my toe hurts.

And all of the blood works were normal. Only my brain MRI was abnormal.

I suspect you have either a very unusual case of PMR or something else entirely Kate.... do not give up pushing your Dr for answers!

Try this to releive headache, spread your fingers through you hair and gently tug all over your scalp.   Each hair has a little muscle attached to it and this can relieve the tension.

You wrote '  Now c protein shows high but sed rate has been mostly in normal range.'  Are you saying CRP high and ESR low?

20mg to 6mg in one year is very fast, have you tried going back to where you were comfortable  say 10mg.

I would be pushing your medics, this does not sound good at all.
