You know what they say if it sounds to good to be true .......... ! I looked on Google and there were some postings on this site last July and it does appear some people including Mrs K looked in to it and it is a bit of a con but have a look and judge for yourself

Hello Peter and welcome to this forum

Yes, as Mrs G says, Rheumeton has been raised on this forum previously and the consensus was that it was probably a waste of time and money. However, don't stop looking for a natural alternative....you never know there might just be something miraculous out there!

Meanwhile, a cheaper and probably far better alternative may be to add known anti-inflammatory herbs such as turmeric, garlic, oregano, etc to you diet together with lots of oily fish - I personally have found the latter very beneficial on my uncomfortable days.

Thanks very much for advice. You've just saved me £60. This illness is so variable and indiscrimate . Seems to come from nowhere and the medics know little about it. You can't help wondering if its an allergy of some kind - milk products perhaps or the e numbers we all eat in processed foods.

    Dear Mrs O

Please could you tell me how you take turmeric? I have it in powder form from the Schwartz spice range and sprinkle about a teaspoon into a glass, add a little hot water otherwise it won't dissolve, then cold, stir it around, take a deep breath pinch my nose and swallow. [b:37bec54123]Yurk.[/b:37bec54123] Am not sure what it does to your teeth. If you know a better way i.e. tablets I would be VERY grateful to know.

    Thanks

I got some turmeric pills called \"Good n' Natural\" from Holland and Barrett -they were on offer a while back but I guess it's finished now. I tried sprinkling the stuff into soups etc but I did get rather tired of everything tasting the same. Curried parsnip soup was OK tho'. Enjoy, as the restaurant staff all say these days! Hello Margaret S

Oh, I don't think I'm as brave as you to try drinking the turmeric in water. I add the Schwartz powder when preparing meals and it adds a delicious flavour and colour to such foods as casserole, risotto, shepherds pie, bolognaise etc. As far as spices go, I also add cinnamon (another anti-inflammatory) to my cereal (it can be no-added sugar muesli or porridge) together with my live yoghurt (my stomach protection), and a teaspoonful of Manuka Honey 10+ (my immune booster to counteract the bashing the immune system is getting from Prednisolone - expensive but money well spent). I then mix with a little prayer and hope it is all helping somehow!

Do hope your PMR is behaving itself!

Dear all with your Turmeric Taking Tips. Am heading off to Holland and Barret this am. At speed! And I'll add turmeric to anything suitable.

Next question Mrs O. What yoghurt do you take. I have looked at all the different organic brands and they seem to put all kinds of un-yoghurty things in them. Stapletons puts SALT in theirs. I was in France this weekend and saw a yoghurt making machine and thought 'what a good idea'. But if you know a good make that is not full of odd additives I can curb my yoghurt making enthusiasm though at least you know what is in the homemade variety. Like you I have a spoonful of Manuka 10+ a day.

PMR is fluctuating. Some days not bad - and then comes an ouch day - or two - but the weather is also fluctuating and I'm sure it does have an effect.

Anyway Spring seems to be here and even a daffodil has struggled out in my garden. As for the frogs - I have to avert my eyes. No PMR there.

Thanks for all your help. This site does make me chuckle.

Margaret S .........and you've made me chuckle with the antics of the frogs in your garden too!

I have been eating Yeo Valley Organic Fat-free live natural yoghurt for many years now and daily since starting the steroids 3 years ago in the hope of lining my stomach as I was unable to tolerate the stomach protection meds.

Hope you have lots more good days now that Spring has finally sprung....at last the tete-a-tete daffodils and the magnolia are flowering beautifully in my garden, and the clocks go forward this w/end so lovely longer, lighter days - whoopee!

If anyone is interested - Lakeland also do what looks a very good yoghurt making machine and sell various cultures in case you didn't want to just start with an organic live culture.
