PMR and Rotator Cuff Syndrome - anyone else experienced this?

I've had problems with lifting my right arm ever since I was diagnosed 2 years ago, but in the last couple of months my shoulder and upper arm muscles have got really painful, and keep me awake at night. I've been going to a sports physio who gives me exercises and manipulates and massages it, and my range of movement has improved but not the painfulness. I try not to use it too much, but that is difficult - I've tried upping my pred dose from 6 to 7.5 which was my last 'happy' dose for 4 days, no change. Tried stopping the exercises, no change. 2 paracetamols in the morning dull it for a little while. Has anyone else managed to find a treatment that worked for them? I'd be glad to hear of your experiences.

Priscilla, my rotator cuff pains had increased this week to beyond bearable, and I got to the end of my tether once again. I got up angry, frustrated and decided that I was going to get on with physical jobs I need to do. I would either kill or cure it! At the end of the day it was 90% better than it was that morning. I am confused. I am always confused, but 2 days later it is still so much better. Should we just push ourselves sometimes???? I don't think I would recommend it to anyone as it could have gone the other way. I am thinking that I just got lucky for once.

Ooh Flutterbie that was a good result. I'm just as confused as you are. Sometimes mine is worse after the Physio has pulled me about or I've been doing something I know might cause pain the next day, and sometimes the opposite happens. The main thing I'm concerned about is not having it progress to being a 'frozen shoulder', and at least whatever happens in the way of physio or exercise, my range of movement is getting better. I do think sometimes I am being a bit overprotective of it, but at least a gradual improvement is happening.

Hello - could I ask you what Rotator Cuff syndrome is? I'm writing for my husband who has a swollen, painful wrist and fore-arm now, to add to the other aches and pains he has. He's been on Pred since the beginning of October for PMR..

Rotator cuff syndrome affects the shoulder not the wrist and forearm

Wrist and forearm swelling can be due to RS3PE syndrome and is often found alongside PMR. It responds to pred too.
If you google it you should get a picture as well as descriptions.
