Pmr and sore lips

ive had chapped lips since my teens and have used vaseline for decades. yes, i know, now my lips no longer secrete the necessary oils so the vaseline is a must. thats not my question though. the last three weeks or so my lips have been unusually red, sore and puffy, like theyve been sunburnt except they arent, i have eliminated lipstick, i recently tried a new salicyclate toothpaste that ive eliminated, there isnt anything else i can think of that could be the cause. ive read a post somewhere about pmr and prednisone and chapped lips but mine seem to be worse than that--more like an allergy. saliva seems to be fine. any ideas? thank you. p.s. im at 5 1/2 mg pred, developed pmr in sept. 2016.

    Like nasal sprays, use of too much lip balm leads to a worsening of the condition!

    I have had sore lips on various occasions, and have come to the conclusion it is almost the same as herpes. If I catch it early with antiviral cold sore creams it goes no further.
