PMR associated with frozen shoulders

About 18 months ago, I was diagnosed with bilateral frozen shoulders.  This completely healed after 8 months with Physiotherapy and analgesia treatment.  Immediately following this, both hips became stiff and painful.  I came back to this site asking if anyone else had experienced 'frozen hips' and realised there was such a thing.  I have been taking non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drugs, hoping this would heal in the same way, but after 10 months the hips remained just as painful and stiff, so I saw GP for advice.  He seemed to think this (including the Frozen Shoulders) is more likely to be PMR - Poly Myalgia Rheumatica.  Tests for PMR (blood test and X-ray) are underway.  It occured to me that there may be others out there with the same problem...who might be having treatment and surgery for the wrong complaint.  Hope this might be helpful if you are in the same boat as me.

      Thank you Rologirl.  Good point about mental health...one is in danger of mentally bouncing off the walls with this complaint!

    Wow!!!! This site just keeps getting more and more interesting!! YES!! A few years ago I underwent arthroscopic hip surgery for what my doctor thought was a torn labrum. Once he got in there he said there was no tear, but everything was inflamed and super-tight. He flushed everything out and did multiple tiny incisions to loosen everything up. My hip has been fine ever since. My shoulder just started a few months ago, and it just seemed SO strange to me because it sounds like the whole thing over again?! Although I will say that the shoulder has been MUCH more painful than my hip ever was. I am really interested in learning more about PMR ( never heard of it). I also wonder if you have thyroid issues? I have Hashimoto's/Low thyroid but have had normal blood tests with Synthroid. THANK YOU for sharing your story- hoping we can learn from each other smile
