PMR diagnosed

Posted , 8 users are following.

I called my Dr's office this morning rather than wait until THURSDAY when I have my follow up  Dr.  appt  to review my test results. Over the weekend my symptoms got worse; now I can barely use my left arm or hand. It seems to be worse on my left side. Anyway 4 hours later they called me back, and another Dr reviewed my results. X Rays of hips and shoulders normal, but blood work indicates PMR. A prescription for 20mg Predisone has been called in and my huasband is out picking it up now. I am praying it will start to work quickly. I can no longer get in  and out of the car to drive, and BARELY, just barely can get on and off the toliet. I am happy though to finally know what is wrong with me.

It's only been 2 hours since I took the pred, and maybe it's just my "mind", but I feel a bit less pain already. Hopefully I can at least sleep longer than an hour at a time tonight. I am HOPEFUL !!!!!!

By tomorrow morning you should be leaping out of bed!

we all wait, hopefully,  for your positive reaction to the pred. Please keep us advised: we will have a sympathetic endorphin release hearing the good news, and remembering our own miraculous response. Good luck!!

This morning, after my very first pred at 5:30 PM yesterday, I am feeling like 70-80% better. Still a little pain in my upper arms mostly. I am so happy though, and feeling so hopeful that after pred #2 and bedtime tonight I will be pain free. THANK GOD !!!!!!!

That's why Pred is called a miracle drug! So pleased for you. :-)

No - please don't get your hopes that far up or you may be disappointed. It is very rare for pred to take away all the pain but it will make a massive difference as you have already found.

Now don't go and do the spring cleaning just because you feel so well!

You are being too positive too soon.  The pain is in control at the moment, but you are at the very beginning of a long journey.  Like most long journeys you must plan ahead.  Take extra care, don't jump at anything.

You will need help/advice in the next few weeks.  If you have any difficulties at all someone on this forum will be able to advise.

      Good luck!  Constance 💐

      Hallelujah

We all know the feeling. So happy for you. I feel the endorphins.

But take heed of the advice of others here.

My experience is like a prisoner who was given a reprieve from execution. I was elated and thought I was free.   Unbounded optimism.

18 months later, I have avoided torture and execution.

      But I am still prisoner.

For me, that is the reality.

      I still hope for freedom.

So happy for you (and me as I can now uncross my eyes!) Proceed with caution, tred gently as the others say, it's very early days and it's so hard to pull back as you feel so much better as I found to my cost. One of my side effects at the mo is hyperactivity and I run at everything. Then I hurt. But never the less, great news.
