PMR pain at night

I was wondering is it common to experience the PMR muscle pain mainly at night?

I take pain killers before bed but wake up quite a few times with deep muscle pain in the thighs and lower outer calves.

Does anyone also suffer from tendonitis?

I drop things all the time.  Probably because my hands ache, so I tend to soften my grip on just about everything.  Jars of spaghetti sauce make for a beautiful, artistic display on new white rugs.

It's my experience to have pain at night, particulary in the outer thigh and inner knee. I do have bursitis is both hips which also cause me to wake up with pain.

Even on regular and relatively high doses of pred (<=20mg) I've never been pain free (from PMR)

If those are due to bursitis - and they could well be - more targeted treatment works far better than oral pred.

Regarding hip bursitis, Trocanteric, I got that after PMR while working too long in garden standing on the leg. Had it for months, but knew it was different from PMR pains.  I did go back to physical therapy and after two months twice a week, the hip is 90% better. No longer tender when I press on it. I had got cortisone shot in it prior, but that didn't work, but the PT did. I can now walk so much better and farther.

however, ugh, I do have other hip pain lower area during certain movements in both hips and after sitting a spell. This is probably the PMR though I hope it's not osteonecrosis or what ever that word is from taking Predisone.

      FYI Flip and Nola.

I had the bursitis first - by about 5 years. Was told in my mid 40s I had the hips of a 65 year old. Thanks for that Mr Radiologist. Not.

That's interesting. I have bursitis/ tendonitis in both hips - trochanter and iliac crest, right hip for 20 years since I had my second child and left hip 12 months. That's the area PMR started for me. I wonder if it's related? I'd always exercised eg lifted weights- squats and spin classes. My PT feels squats with weights can cause this in people who have a tendency to develop a tendonosis. I've had many steroid injections over the years with temporary relief only. Ive tried to strengthen the hips using exercise bands but the next day it's so agony. I guess that's the PMR also kicking in?

I'm impressed you can still exercise at all!

I was competing in triathlons just prior to getting PMR and have been unable to do ANYTHING since then - even walking is difficult and painful.

Be careful with over using your muscles now you have PMR - you simply won't recover like you used to and could in fact be doing damage. Remember, your muscles/arteries are inflammed already!
