PMR POEM FOR CHRISTMAS 2019

Polymyalgia after 4 years……………. December 2019

At Christmas Miss Poly will be four years old

Mr Pred who’s the steroid, he helps with the load

I’m now down to 5 which proved very slow

And the drop for one week leaves me feeling quite low

But when I bounce back from the horrible drop

I’m out and about and I try not to stop

I see all my friends, try to have a good time

But I’m careful to cut down carbs, sugar and wine

And as I drop down I am hoping to see

A gradual improvement and find the old me

And eventually make it to down under 5

And feel almost normal, be completely alive

So all of us must live with eternal hope

And battle the demon and try hard to cope

Remember that star burns up high in the sky

So we mustn’t complain and ask reasons why

Happy Christmas to All and a Happy New Year

Let’s all face the future with cheer and less fear

We’ll raise glasses high and give a High Five

And just thank the Lord we are all still alive Diana... December 2019

I WONDER HOW MANY MORE YEARS I WILL BE WRITING THIS!

I so admire how you've channelled your PMR experience into verse and shared it with us all. Thank you for connecting this way, Diana.

Wishing you and all our colleagues a joyful Christmas -- as befits such a wonderfully resilient bunch!

My first time on this forum, Diana, your poem just what I need to get me out of the doldrums..I'm 85 and struggled first with GCA , andthen PMR for past eight years - Magic prednisolone has contributed to damageing my eyes,my heart, my spine, and now my liver , finally down to 2 mg daily to get free from it ..BUT PMR has also now been set free to beat me up again and I'm finding it harder to rise above all the effects of it .......So any words of comfort from fellow sufferers will be gratefully received ...you are all a brave lotxxxxx

Patricia, some of our PMR journey are quite bumpy, but if we hang in we all can beat this damn thing. Good luck on the rest of your journey, sometimes it is hard, but don't get discouraged. Try and stay positive. 🙂

Patricia, I started on 20mg got down 7mg had a terrible flare, ended up 30 and could not walk. With help, guidance and education I received from the forum, I have been able to lead a mostly PMR pain free very active life. Learn to listen to your body, you know you better than anyone else! Stay active, positive and try to smile. I know that has got me through these past 3 years of my 4 year journey. 🙂
