PMR, Prednisone, Refresher

After 2-1/2 yrs. of PMR, tapered to 7-1/2...DSNS+ tapering to 7...have some new, first time issues...knee swelling, teeth hurt sometimes. Will these things be permanent, or will it change...the revolving door of aches and pains in different areas?  I do not take any pain meds....are they ok occasionally, what meds? Any input appreciated...thank you!

Paraceptamol is fine to take with pred and it does help with aches and pains.  Take 2 every 4 hours, not more than 8 per day or just when necessary.

Well, wanted to start new discussion, but cannot find the link, so will add it here.  I use the bag balm to help on skin.  I have spots that rub off, then bleed all over.  Band aids tear skin, too.  I was using patches with a pad, but that seals it, then it drains all over..UGH  anyone have this, and any suggestions?  I also thought I was having a Flare of the PMR a bit ago, with this Pain in the Butt, that I have.  I found out, this is atually the hip joint.  I am hopefully going to have an order for an MRI tomorrow, after changing PCPs.  This has taken away my whole life as I knew it.  I have to crawl up and down stairs....UGH  any suggestions appreciated.  Judy in US

I take paracetomol/codeine as I see necessary. It knocks the edge off the things that are not directly PMR. Eg bursitis and other side effects.

I am in the 2nd year with PMR it has been up and down was excited to have

reduced to 6mg, but pain came back so was put back to 7mg, this seems to be my level, will try again with reduction after next blood tests at the end of month. When first diagnosed was told it could be 2 to 10 years I had latched onto the two. It will be what it will be.

my rheumy won't do the adrenal test...says it would be inaccurate because I am already on the pred for so long. I had latched on to the 2 years too....oh well.?? Thank you for your input!

my tip  is when i start to reduce,  i have bowen trearment,  which works for me. i also had bad knee pain, but bowens sorted that out.   i am down to 2 mg   but still go  every  2 month   for a top up.   i reduce on the eileen  regime  but only by  quater mg

at a time.  i havent so for suffererd with   tired  thing which a lot of our friends on the forum do,    weather its because i do  half mg at a time i dont know.   i do some times take 1  paracetamol  from time to time as i do have a bit of pain in my muscel at the top of my arm,    not putting it down to pmr tho as its just 1 side   and it is berable   so good luck on your journey   i am 4.5 years into my story

Is Bowen Therapy like a light massage? If this really DSNS+ method doesn't work I might have to go to the 1/4m taper too. Thanks!

Kathy, I also had tooth pain and just recently, , 1-2 months, I have quite severe ankle/lower leg swelling. Top of my feet look like will burst. I bought some diabetic knee support hose, and use them daily. They help me. I have hydrocodone for pain, but, 800 mg of ibuprofen helps the most and don't make me sleepy. Hope this helps in some way.  Judy in US

You know I have worn those heavy duty, made to measure stockings over the years...almost forgot about them! I have full panty hose, thigh highs, and ankle length! I dug them out and they have really helped today..thank you for the reminder😊

I agree with Diana, Paraceptamol (Tylenol here in the US) works well.  I take 2 500 mg in the morning and I am fine until about 4 p.m.  Sometimes I take 2 more in the afternoon if I am going to have plans for the evening.

My Rheumy recommended it.  I am reducing with the slow method from 7 1/2 to 7.

I have had PMR for almost 2 years.

I have GCA and have had jaw claudication (jaw pain when chewing) but not tooth pain with my initial bout and some of my flares over seven years. Having many  other health problems I understand how difficult it is to know what is causing symptoms. Jan
