PMR, Prednisone, Weight

Posted , 14 users are following.

i have tapered down to 7-1/2 after 2+ years of PMR. At the beginning of the PMR, prednisone I automatically lost weight.

At this lower dose I am gaining weight. Isn't this the opposite of the norm?

    Hi Kathy,

There will be a reason, for sure, behind the fact you are experiencing.

The explanation will come from those who have a good knowledge on health issues though.

Hope you will get them soon.

All the very best and stay well.

Not unusual, I don't think.  When I first started on 20mg of pred about

three years ago I lost a lot of weight....it was wonderful!!!

Then started to gain as I dropped the dose.  bummer.....now I blame

pred for about 30 lbs I'm carrying around....  When I asked my doc

about it he said the beginning dose of pred had me "wired" or a

little hyped up.    I've heard that pred "makes you feel good" and

guess that initial hyper feeling is what they mean.  It sure doesn't make

    me feel good now....
