The next meeting of the Surrey group will take place on Tuesday, 14th February, at 11am, in the Function Room at The River Bourne Club, Heriot Road, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16 9DR. This will be an informal get-together where those with PMR and/or GCA can come together in support of each other and to share experiences of living with PMR/GCA. We will also be testing out our new venue, and all are welcome, including partners, carers etc. Tea/coffee/biscuits will be available, and free, returnable car parking tokens can be collected at Reception on arrival. For further details and to register, please send a personal message via this site, so that I can inform the caterers and venue staff of the numbers expected for refreshments and seating requirements.

Looking forward to seeing our regulars again, and to meeting any newbies.

    Hi Twin

We had a lovely informal meeting yesterday as our Guest Speaker was taken ill.

They so enjoyed it, they decided one every year....................

Our annual bash takes place in March, it is 9 years since we started out . Remember joining pmrfightersfive........rolleyes I look back in wonder.

Yes, twin, it's interesting how the members enjoy a chatty, informal get-together rather than the more formal speaker ones from time to time.  I was actually asked by a couple of members some time ago, if we could do this.

Is it really 9 years since PMRFighters?  From little acorns......!   Can't believe it's nearly 6 years for the Surrey group either, but then I am twin the younger!lol

Hi Noeleen, just about to leave for the meeting and read your post.  Thirty-three registered today with one newbie.  Hope the showers stay away so that your curls stay in!  I'm wondering what sparklies you will be wearing to cheer us all today!  See you very soon. xx

On March 6-14 I visited London with my wife and had hoped that there would be a meeting in Chertsey, but Mrs O told me that there was no meeting in March. I hope you have a nice meeting to-day and give my best wishes to everybody

Hi Ragnar, and so sorry I missed your post and kind wishes just before leaving for the meeting.  However, it's never too late to pass on your best wishes to all your friends at the Surrey group and I will do so at our next meeting in June (memory permitting!biggrin.  I do hope that you and your wife enjoyed your recent trip to London and that the spring daffodils were out to greet you!  Stay well.   Shirley

Eileen, it's on 8th August from 11am to 1pm, different venue but right opposite the one you came to last year.  Is a return visit to the UK in the pipeline perhaps?

I have clocked that one, so let me know Eileen, just in case I am Ok to travel.   I live in hope twin.

Not looking good for the 8th - David's birthday and we'll probably still be in Scotland. We have to start with Whitby at the start of August to get Esca on days-off (31-3rd) and when you are already halfway up the country you have to make the most of it. The following week would have been perfect. sad

      24th April 2018............

Yes we are 'birthday' twins. Shirley is much younger than me. We met on here when I had GCA and Shirley had PMR & GCA.   We both went into remission at the same time.

I love Malmo, we were staying in Copenhagan - say hello to the Brewery for me,,,,,,,,,,,,the one with the two pink elephants............razz

Ooh, a party oop North with my twin - never been oop North.  Can't believe it's the big 80 though.  Of course, you WILL be "still around", especially if my D-I-L's grandfather is anything to go by - he is 105, still playing Scrabble, and still winning!

I might be the younger twin, but not that "much younger", just 4 years, so 75 shortly - just where have all those years gone, Mavis?

We certainly highjacked this thread. I am not 79 in my head and neither are you 74 in your head.  We just keep doing what we have always done, just like Eileen, Ragnar and other support group leaders.  Still looking out for our fellow humans.

At our meeting (27th March) we had three researchers......so we are in the process of making our 2nd DVD.

Guess what on our Birthdays, the 'Your Ears; survey outcome will be presented at the BSR in Birmingham.  Everything is crossed..........

No worries about us hi-jacking this thread - it was me who started the thread!!biggrin

But not so sure about me not being 74 in my head - more like 84 today when en route to the hospital for a blood test, I realised I'd left my blood test form at home!rolleyes

An updated DVD will be most helpful, I'm sure - updated music as well?wink

I look forward to hearing the outcome of the "Your Ears" survey.....which reminds me that first thing tomorrow I need to make the appointment for the annual clear out of mine or I'll be charged a heftier amount if  go over the year. Sad as it is, I don't rely on the NHS for this as they were the cause of my ear problem in the first place!

Anything special planned for your birthday this year, twin?

    • Posted

Nope, only celebrate the '0's - but remind everyone a year earlier.......lol so they can save up for the 'Brandy Queen. cry

Anyway time to sign off now...........book is calling........

YOU'VE NEVER BEEN OOP NORTH??????? Eee wuman - time to sort THAT out!

I have a dear friend who I met when I was 17 (a couple of years ago!) who has been living in Scotland (Helensburgh) for a number of years and who gets together down South with us a few times a year.  She is always asking us to visit them but somehow we've never made it.  Yet, when, many years ago, when they lived and worked near Paris for a few years, we travelled all the way there to spend a couple of nights with them then.  Guess I'm a bit of a home bird these days!

Anyway, all being well, with luck and a following wind and thanks to our "Brandy Queen" lol,  it now looks as though "THAT" trip oop North  might finally materialise around 24th April next year!

You have an option for home cooking in Helensburgh and you've not been! It's just a skip and a jump - not even the hop - from Glasgow airport!

    • Posted

It's not the cooking I'm concerned about - more, the alcohol that Mike was plied with when we visited them in France by the salesman hubby of my friend, including before and after and between courses.  The next morning when my friend woke us with a most welcome cuppa, Mike said he was sure he could hear the sound of Big Ben....in France!  My friend said this had happened to previous visitors and she rushed off to get Mike some pills and even ran him a bath!
