PMS pain after TAH retain ovaries

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi members,

I am 10 weeks post op TAH with ovaries retained. I experienced breast tenderness, lower back muscle pain, leg cramps, light headache, insomnia and all the pre-menses symptoms I used to have before period.

Is this normal for those of us who kept our ovary?

and feel very tearfull most months.

    Hope you are recovering well.

      Hi Claire,

      Thanks for your reply.

At least now I know it is normal. Maybe it is our menses cycle time (minus the bleeding) for all these breast tenderness and light headache. Well, thinking positively, it also telling us our ovaries are still producing hormones 😊

    Hi Susan.

I'm 6 wks post-op and expereince exactly the same symptoms, with exeption of insomnia. I only have my left ovary retained which seems to work pretty good compensating for the right one. I was very active pre-op and now I'm trying to gradually increase my walking throughout the day. The headache is light and my lower back aches a bit. Can't stretch too much since don't want to cause any damage to the stiches. I'm thankful that I don't have to deal with monthly bleeding nor emotional ups and downs, nor night sweats.

      Hi claudiasta,

Thanks for your reply. I am on my 10th week post op and 20 mins of treadmill is all I could take before the feeling the abominable muscle pulling. Yes, go slow and let all the wounds more time to heal as we only have 1 chance for it to heal properly. Try some kegel exercise too as it helped a bit during the earlier weeks post op.
