PMT

hello I'm 45 years old have always suffered with my hormones but have noticed lately I seem to be getting worse.

I had my first child 17 years ago and it messed my hormones right up. Not long  after my second child was born 16 years ago I went to the doctor and was put on anti depressants for PND.  I'm still on anti depressants and have the merina coil fitted but my moods etc are getting worse.

The trouble i suffer before during and after for a few days!! My periods aren't heavy due to the coil and don't get many physical symptoms. But my moods swings are getting worse I can loose my temper at the flick of a switch, I'm very irritable crying all the time very low mood and want to hide away. I really hate being like this and it's no fun for my children or friends. I'm finding I just want to keep myself indoors while I'm like so then I can't upset anyone.

I could cope if it was only for a few days before my period but Iseem to be the opposite and only have a few good days.

Just wondered if anyone else is like me and if there's anything you've done that has really helped.

It sounds to me like you could be suffering from peri menopause symptoms.  A lot of us ladies on the menopause forum suffer from similar mood swings, tiredness, crying, low moods, and not wanting to socialise.

I'd suggest checking the lists of many symptoms on there and you may find helpful hints on coping. There are lots of ladies your age with children having difficulty coping. It helps tremendously when you realise you are not alone.

    Take care x

I've just remembered, high dose Vit B6 helped when I had pmt. take for a few days before period. It's supports the nervous system. And I take it now included in an iron and B12 supplement.

I have had a similar experience K - I have found sound success with HRT - it was almost instant. Sadly the first two I tried casued heavy bleeding and I had to go off them despite feeling on top of the world. I am on my third attempt but it is a much lower dose and only slight improvement to date.

Give it some thought and take your thoughts to your Dr.?

    Good luck,

    Loui x
