Patricia,
I noticed you wrote "4g" which means 4 grams. Did you mean milligrams, which is how Prednisone is usually prescribed. Four grams is an extremely high dose, one I have not heard of anyone on this forum taking. Please clarify.

I have had PMR for over 13 years and have been on pred for over 8 years, more than half of that time at above 10mg/day. I have no pred-associated problems at all.
4mg is a very low dose and if that manages your symptoms you really don't have a lot to worry about. A paper was published recently by the Mayo Clinic that found that patients on the sort of doses used for PMR do not have any more long term problems than people not on pred - except for developing cataracts. I have no sign of cataracts - but wouldn't mind developing them as then I'd be able to throw away one pair of specs!!!!!

Mobic(meloxicam) is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug in the same class as Advil and naproxen. I was given that after a surgery and it gave me a bad bellyache. All of these drugs have similar side effects. Results vary from person to person. One of Mobic's side effect is headache.

You may feel fine on 2 tablets a day - but the long term side effects may be yet to come.
