Polymyalgia rehumatica

I have polymyalgia rehumatica since July 2010. I was prescribed Predisolone at 20mg per day. The terrible pains subsided slowly, and was told to come off the steroids gradually, because of after effects. I am taking a gastrobloker at the same time. The pains are hardly noticeable now, but I feel terribly tired, I also sweat at night. Also, feel very dizzy, unsteady and have a walking stick, so that I will not have a fall....I have decreased the dose to 6mg a day. I feel a bit worried. Has anyone some advice for me? I plan to come off the steroids decreasing 1mg per day over a seven day period for 1mg a time. Any help please ? I am not keen to keep going to the doctor.......Thank you !

Hi, I think 1mg a day taper is a little too fast. Why not 1mg every 4 days?

I'm concerned by this. The general opinion is that one reduces 1mg per MONTH but only under the supervision of the doctor. Please take professional advice.

You are reducing the dosis much too fast which explains your side effects.

My doctor advised me to reduce it every fortnight. You got to talk to your doctor about it.

Taking things in your own hands can be very dangerous.
