Poorly for 2 years and getting no where

I've been physically unwell for around 2 n half ish years. Palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness, blurred vision, rapid weight loss, fatigue, full body pains, numbness in hands and feet, chest pains, very prominent palm veins etc. I've had bloods, 24hr heart tape and head mri done and come up clear. They are telling me it's anxiety (Which I have seemed to acquire in the past 7 months or so). My anxiety definitely does make some symptoms worse, I've been poorly that long I'm convinced something's happening to me and as most people I'm petrified of dying however surely this can't all be anxiety, and if it is why is nothing they do helping me feel better. Tried so many different meds, respite houses, CBT therapy, councilling. I can't help but feel if I found out what was wrong physically then my anxiety will soon follow. I feel totally unlistened to and brushed aside. I'm lost.

yea I know what you mean. I just had this conversation with my doctor this morning. OF COURSE I am anxious! My body is not functioning and why wouldn't I be anxious? It's amazing people don't understand that and try to convince you that being anxious is the root problem. This happens to most of the chronically ill patients.

They have honestly made me feel like im losing my mind! When in reality I was poorly way before the anxiety came in ..... I know as soon as I know what's wrong with me the anxiety will subside, fighting a losing battle at the moment x

These doctors are the problem. They don't know how to help the patients properly. They think they have all the answers and they are wrong most of the time, and they make the patients feel worse.

I sometimes do wonder if they are right and it's all down to my brain but struggling to accept that it can make my body feel like this. Thank you for replying

I've been dealing with similar issues for close to two years as well. It first started with coughing (was living in a moldy basement), then breathlessness and then came a barrage of numbness/burning, dizziness, crushing fatigue, blurred vision, digestive problems, weight loss and then various circulation problems. I asked for so many tests in an attempt to get answers but nothing ever came up. My doctor eventually labeled me a hypochondriac.

At that point, I decided to try focussing on reducing anxiety and completely cut out any internet health research, etc. It was extremely difficult because the anxiety seemed to be secondary to the health issues. But, over time, so many of the bizarre symptoms started going away as the anxiety began to subside.

Now I continue to experience worsening circulation issues (sometimes the veins on my palms turn almost black, for example), but most of the other issues have subsided.

I'm still concerned by what's going on with my circulation, but I must say focussing on reducing anxiety has made a world of difference. The doctors may be wrong to say all our problems are caused by anxiety, but there is definitely truth to the fact that anxiety can cause the most bizarre, seemingly unrelated symptoms -- and amplify any existing issues.

The things I find help the most are: improving sleep consistency/quality, movement/exercise, cutting out caffeine, focussing on things I enjoy and spending more time with friends/family. Regardless of what the underlying problem may be, these things seem to help immensely.

I started getting poorly when we moved in this house and funnily enough we had and still have mould in our bedroom, only a 10cm patch by the window now but used to be worse. Did you ever wonder if the mould was what caused it. I really appreciate your replies thank you

Oh yes, I should have mentioned that. I strongly suspected initially that the mold was triggering my problems and moved out of that apartment as quickly as I could. It was black mold that seemed to be a small patch on the wall but turned out to be all over the place.

However, although the coughing got better, the other problems intensified several weeks after moving out. The circulation problems didn't begin until about 6 months after moving.

My best guess is that the mold triggered my symptoms initially and then those symptoms triggered anxiety which led to new and more intensified symptoms.

It's definitely worth addressing any mold problems (be very careful though, as you can expose yourself to more in an effort to clean it) to see if that helps anything. A HEPA air purifier may also help.

I would definitely look into CIRS, (chronic inflammatory response syndrome). It can cause all the symptoms you have mentioned. When you have CIRS your body is not able to rid itself from toxins (most commonly from mold). I would have someone come in and get rid of the mold ASAP! You can take some supplements to help but nothing will get better until you are out of the environment and away from mold. I have found that Turmeric Curcumin helps with the chest pain. Took a couple days 1500 mg before I felt the difference.

Thank you, I have looked it up and it certainly makes sense!

    Alexandra,

I think that the weight loss and feeling of weakness could be related to a weakness with the spleen.

Outside of western medicine weakness of the spleen also causes anxiety.

This  would explain the weight loss, the anxiety that feels it is caused by something other than the mind and the rejection of western doctor to join the dots.

Three things to do now. 1) Cut out refined sugar in your diet.

                                         2) Take ginger, fresh ginger and tea.

                                         3) Incorporate in your diet more fish, basmati rice, black olives, asparagus and oats.

Perhaps discuss with a doctor about tests on the spleen.

For the anxiety use bright red or orange colors and walk 10 mins every three days.

    Try this for a month.

One thing to try is take a vacation in a remote location for 1-2 weeks (if possible.) Take your body and mind out of your current environment and see if you could see changes. It may offer additional clues.
