Pop in my head?

I was driving home and I first got a strange sprout of pulsating pain on the right upper part my head. I was like okay, cook a migraine. But then I felt two popping sensations in the back upper left portion of my head. The first pop was buzzing and uncomfortable, the second pop occured right after the first one and wasn't as intense. I then noticed I wasn't driving normally. I became a little dizzy and just focused on getting home. When i got home i immediately drank about 16oz of some water and took a medicine. I began doing deep breaths. The pain didnt last long but i am getting a small bothersome headaches at the same time. I do not know if i feel normal. I happened to be smoking at the time, heavy Chain smoker in the process of quitting. Been smoking at least a pack a day for 10 years. At one point i was smoking 3-4 packs a day and I've cut down to about 14 cigarettes a day. I started smoking when I was an adolescent, I grew up around smokers and pretty much had unlimited access to cigarettes. Could cigarettes have caused this? Or could after effects of other drugs cause this? I worry for my health

Hi Risuxy! If I were you I would tell a doctor exactly what you wrote in your comment. The doctor should be able to figure out what the problem is and treat it. Good for you with your plan to quit smoking! I had my first cigarette when 12 years old. My parents were heavy smokers, especially my dad. We would drive around in the car with the windows closed, so there was quite an accumulation of second-hand smoke.

My plan to quit smoking was to reduce my intake gradually. By the time I got to three cigarettes a day, I thought how perfect my day would be having one cigarette after each meal. So, I decided to do that, but.....I started craving more than the three. Therefore I went down to two, then one, then none. I hope everything is fine with you and the headaches as well as the popping sounds are nothing to worry about!

You really should consult a doctor.  This may be what is termed a thunderclap headache and as you are still experiencing  a headache you need a professional opinion.

You obviously are aware that smoking of any description is not good for your health,so well done for trying to give up.

     - Get thee to an ER.  Sounds exactly like a vascular incident...  Don't muck around with this.  Don't waste time with waiting to see yr GP, go straight to ER.  You'll need an MRI - not CT - MRI.  Warning, they will want to use contrast dye !  Contrast 'can' pose probs for some (like myself for instance...).  Hope all goes well - and do chuck the smokes, which indeed could well have led to this situation.
