Popping sounds in head? I'm worried.. What could it be?

It's getting really late here but I find it hard to sleep, knowing one of my closest family members is at the hospital right now being treated from a car crash injury. Luckily they did survive but I'm really depressed right now and my anxiety is keeping me awake and it's almost 7 in the morning and I still haven't slept yet. When I tried to force myself to calm down and relax so I can eventually fall asleep, I slightly turned my head around and heard a loud popping/ creaking sound inside my head that made me panic as it fully made me alert and I'm scared on why it made that noise. I'm not sure if it was anxiety or not but I never heard any symptom of it possibly doing something like that but muscle tightness, or from what I experience before, when I felt sharp needle like pains stabbing my head multiple times as what it really felt like, but stopped in a few seconds was the only terrifying time. I'm not sure if I can sleep now.

don’t worry about the popping and creaking sound. Many people get that during head and neck movements. Basically we have little capsules around our joints including in the neck. These capsules contain fluid and sometimes when we turn our head it puts pressure on the area . The fluid when it turns to gas can make a popping sound. The creaking sound it’s called crepitus and it’s basically the same thing. it’s air bubbles that are popping or tissues and bones moving over over each other. We can get this anywhere on our bodies but it sounds louder when it’s in the neck area because it’s closer to the ear.

Very common and not serious at all!
