Positive ANA test?

I'm 9 months from when i was told i had this virus. now my doctor is saying that im kind of old to get mono and thinks that this could be something else after 9 months?! so i have a few questions if anyone has had the same:

  1. how old were you?
  2. did you have symptoms without having an active infection?
  3. has anyone ANA test come back positive
  4. has anyone's doctor saying they have RA

ive read that EBV can cause a positive ANA test making drs believe you have an autoimmune disease or rheumatoid arthritis

I have reactive mono. First time I had it when I was 4. I am on year 2 and I just can't seem to get it to go dormant. My doctor recently did an ANA test and it came back negative. I did see a Immune Specialist for a year who determined my antibodies were too low, which is why the mono is struggling to go dormant. However, I am getting a referral to a RA doctor to get a second opinion.

so your test shows an active infection for the past two years? my ANA test was for autoimmune diseases. is that what yours was for? i had more indepth blood work recently that i am waiting on. i have just read and have heard that test can come back positive for things like RA and other autoimmune and it just be the mono.

Yes. Basically my mono numbers will peak and level out but the numbers wont go low enough to be considered dormant. The ANA test was to test for autoimmune but I believe it is not as thorough as what an RA doctor would test.
