Positive antibodies test for herpes type 1&2 ( false positive 2.85 IGG) in

the last few weeks i have been paranoid thinking i have genital herpes, knowing the man i slept with might have it. i went to the gum clinic twice and got a screening where both times they said there was nothing there stop worrying.
i knew something was wrong as tingling down there and very sore but no blisters.
for my own peace of mind i ordered a blood test online checking for antibodies of herpes.
the same day i got all clear from the gum clinic for the second time i recieved a phone call later that day to say i have type 1 and 2. i have never had a cold sore so suprised about the type 1 but then again my parents get them so maybe that is why in blood.
my results for type 2 were 2.85 and ive read on the internet anything below 3.5 could be a false posative.
ive payed for another blood test so we will see but have everything crossed. has anyone recieved a false posative test before?
also if the gum clinic say i do not have it but i do have antibodies does this mean i have it and have to tell people before sex?

False positive happen very often! About 2 1/2 years ago I got blood tested because I was getting cold sores regularly. I heard nothing back from my Doctor until a WHOLE YEAR later saying they looked at my paper work and it said i was positive for HSV 1 and 2. (my numbers were below 3.5) I was panicking and crying because I had gone over a year not knowing. However, I have never had any sores genitally or any signs real signs of genital herpes. After telling the doctor this they re tested me and It was negative. The only way to truly test is if the doctor swabs a sore thats visible!

Also I spoke with my boyfriend when it was all happening and he never had any signs of herpes. He tested negative as well. (and we were having unprotected sex for over a year so it would be very unlikley if i had herpes that he never caught it)

it was 2.65! I remember that the paperwork said anything detected over 1.60 is positive but like i said false positives are so common. Thats why herpes is not in the normal STD test scans/ blood work... its not accurate
