Positive fecal occult tests...

I'm really hoping someone can advise or help me. I suffer with terrible health anxiety anyway generally to do with cancer. I had a blocked bowel 6 years ago and was diagnosed with diverticulitis and inflamed bowel.

I don't not produce what I would call regular sized stools. They are always pretty flat and no more than a thumb size in width.

Lately I have noticed they they seem to have some odd coloration, like two tone, but not black or red.

So I decided to purchase some home stool tests and I keep getting a positive for blood.

I had a follow up colonoscopy last September which apart from the diverticulitis was clear but I'm worried they may have missed something now because of the positive tests.... I'm literally worrying myself silly over this and don't know what to do. Because of my health anxiety the doctors tend to just brush me off sad

What tests did you order? Diverticulitis can cause bleeding as its an infection of the colon pockets.

Did you have any CBC tests done?

    Liver tests?

    Any sharp abdomen pain?

This could be just a complication of your condition or the general fissue, or piles flare. As for stool sizes, what kind of food are you eating, your fiber intake and any other info that you can provide?

Hi Luis, what is a cbc test? I do not have any sharp abdominal pains no. Admittedly my diet isn't great, could probably do with eating more fibre

Hi Darren has your doctor sent your stool off to test for fecal occult blood test because you should ask him to do so my boyfriend has been having trouble with stomach pain, nausea, altered bowel habits, yellow mucous in stool, weight loss our gp kept fobbing us off we demanded further tests a stool test came back negative but the calprotecin was 475 which is quite high inflammation but colonoscopy didn’t show up anything he’s had ct scan barium meal all normal so we still haven’t had a diagnosis it’s supposed frustrating if I was you I would definitely ask your gp for a stool test

Hi Cheryl thanks for your reply. It is very frustrating. The doctor quite frankly isn't interested because the colonoscopy was clear. When I've mentioned positive fob tests, she day said that it's fairly normal to dvd some trace in your stool, which I don't believe is correct. So if she won't help I'm at a dead end since I can't afford to get tested privately. Sounds to me as the your boyfriend either has ibs or possibly even crohns. Has he been tested for coeliac or any sort of intolerance?

Hi Darren yes my boyfriend has been tested for coeliac and test was ok the consultants seem to think he has IBS apparently IBS can be very debilitating I did think it was crohns but the colonoscopy was ok and all the other tests were ok too.

Can’t you get another drs opinion hope you get some answers soon
