Positive for hsv 1

Please note that I haven't had sex in 6 months so I doubt that this could be a "new" infection.
A month ago I found an unusual red looking ulcer on my outer labia near the edge. It didn't hurt when I peed but it was uncomfortable at times when I touched it or showered. I was very concerned about this and went to visit my gyno who examined me and told me that I should do a herpes test. I did and when I got back my results it stated that I was negative for hsv 2 but positive for hsv 1.
Hsv 2 lgG - 0.203
Hsv 1 lgG- 1.08
I was not sure what to think or how to feel. I have had 3 sexual partners. I started seeing someone this past Feb but we did not have sex in 6 months. The last time was at the end of march. Ever since I visited the doctor because of the ulcer that I found on my labia I always check myself every now and again when I shower because I'm so paranoid of outbreaks. Two days ago I noticed that down there burned when I washed it so I examined myself and found a small white cold sore inside my vagina. I'm so confused, is this me having an outbreak ? Should I take medication for this ? Please advice, any form of advise based off of experience will be extremely helpful. Thank you.

This is why I'm so confused, before I even did the blood test the doctor just had a look at the ulcer down there and immediately told me that I might have herpes. She didn't ask me any questions or anything then she started to tell me about medication. I interrupted her and asked her if it would be best that I do a test before starting any form of medication after which she ordered a test. I got back my results and all she told me was that my results came back positive for herpes - she was very dismissive and did not discuss my results with me so I left her office very confused. I went to another doctor who had a look at my ulcer and told me that it did not look like herpes, she told me that I had discharge down there and she gave me a swab test. I will go back to her tomorrow to see what the results are for that since I didn't collect them yet. I was thinking that I should take the medication for herpes and see if it goes away because honestly I have no idea what else to do.

So the only difference between hsv1 and hsv 2 is where it originated. If diagnosed with hsv1 usually you will get less outbreaks but that's not definite. A cold sore downtown is herpes. It's the same family.

Best thing is to swab any such ulcer asap for HSV. The blood test doesn't mean that you carry it genitally, only that you carry it somewhere, HSV1 is much more likely to be oral. Your result is also very low, which is possible, but most people have much higher values. Just an observation.

Good morning felizcastus, I woke up this morning a bit sore down there but no burning when I pee - Im going to the doctors office this morning. I know that my numbers are very low. Most people with hsv 1 numbers like mine are equivocal (based on what I've read) but my doc told me that I was positive. Anyhow it's either herpes or its something else but it's definitely something ! I'll let you know what she says when I go.

OK so I'm back from the docs and just wanted to share an update for anyone that might be interested.
My swab test came back negative for everything but my gram stain came back moderate gram positive for bacilli. She told me that that's a good thing because my body is fighting whatever infection is there. She examined me once again and found a few very tiny sores down there and stated that it does NOT look like herpes and also told me that I should not be stressed out about this being herpes because my antibodies are very low and I tested positive for hsv 1. She told me that I could be getting that stuff down there because of the candida virus. I have a very tiny ulcer (nearly invisible ) at the side of my tongue as well. She gave me two tablets - apo fluconazole (one to be taken today and the other on the 5th ) I had started birth control for a month in may and stopped in June and have been getting very late periods since then she said that that could also be responsible. She also recommended vitamin b and folic acid daily (which I already take ). I will take the pills and wait and see what happens.

That's good news from an HSV perspective. Thanks for updating us!
