Positive IGM test, negative IGG. Do I have herpes?

I recently went to the doctor to get an STD test and the result came back for HSV2 IGM positive (1.40) but the HSV2 IGG was negative. The doctor was very confusing with the diagnosis and I was told that I had recently been exposed to it and I may not have herpes, and to be careful. I'm not sure it this confirms or deny it, help!

IGM is unreliable and most doctors don't use it as testing anymore. Only IGG is reliable. You are considered negative with those results.
