Positive New Year

Posted , 8 users are following.

As it's a new year, a new beginning as well as another year older, I am going to try really hard and think positively !!!!!!

Its been a bumpy old 5 weeks and I'm sure there will be more bumps to follow - but there is an end to it, I've decided to go with how I feel and not about others (none hippies) telling me what I should and shouldn't be doing!!!

i am so pleased to be able to share my journey with you and gain the support ย and understanding from the lovely people on this forum.

i hope you all have a great day today, I'm of to my daughters for a birthday tea, might even treat myself to a glass of wine ๐Ÿท๐Ÿท

i sincerely hope everyone has a happier and pain free New Year

Happy New Year to you Carol.ย

To be hnest I gave up months ago caring what others who have never gone through this have to say. They do not understand and they never will.

my aunt broke her femur while on holiday in Spain 5 months ago. If it wasn't for the fact that I had just had my left hip done I would not understand what she was going through as soon as she got home. She phoned me asking for advice which I gave her. I also sent her all the info. The hospital had given to me. She has always been thankful for that help and 5 months on she is till gets tired but she is doing really well for being 76 ย  She has said to me that I am the only one in the family that understand and she said I was her rock and have helped her ย so much with all my knowledge.ย

So don't let those that do not understand. Only you and those that have been through this will ever understand. You not being selfish. You are just not taking the advice from those that think they know better but know nothing. Stay posative and do thing in your time at your pace and you will in the end feel so much better for it because you did it yourself. Set a little goal to reach each week. That is the way to go. ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you - definitely going to start that as well as writing down each milestone and hopefully that will help me in remaining positive. ๐Ÿ˜˜

IT is worth remembering that even those of us who have had THRs take different times to recover, have problems with different things, have surgeons who have different approaches etc and may be able to do things you can't or vice versa so be confident in yourself and don't compare.

happy new year Carol and all support from me.ย

Thank you I'm so trying to stay positive and confident that this will end๐Ÿ˜€

No more listening to others ( especially those none hippies)!!!!!!!ย

Happy New Year to you and thank you for your support - it's greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

Good for you Carol. Your problems are so similar to mine, it's almost spooky. Need to discuss this with you as I think we could help each other. Pretty sure we are seeing the same surgeon from Birmingham. Not too familiar with this site. Can you email me and then we could chat over the phone, if that suits you.

Meanwhile, let's all have hope in our hearts and with active intent lets hold the attitude that "things can only get better"!!

    Hi Carol,ย

Happy, warm and loving New Year to you too -ย

It is good to come here, isn't it? ย  ย It would have been a terribly lonely experience for me if I didn;t have my friends here on the forum ....ย

With THR number one, I still got some understanding from friends and family: after THR number two for some reason they think I should be able to just jump through hoops by now (16 weeks post-op) - I stopped defending that both hips are healing, that I can't walk fast yet or unaided -ย

so you go girl ... all is well and i hope you had a lovely birthday visit with your daughter -

    big warm hug

Happy New Year to you Renee...........

Had a nice birthday meal at my daughters, however, I'm sure one of them (I've got 2) doesn't quite understand, by her standards, I should be fine after all it's only a routine op, I just need to get on with it!!!! ย That's why it's great to come here for support!

Have decided like you to not even try to defend myself, through time and patience and all will be well๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Heres to to looking forward ย - ย onwards and upwards ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

rolleyesย It is NOT a routine operation and it is NOT just a procedure - arghh!! because there are many THR surgeries done, does not mean it is

      routine - teeth cleaning is ( I so dislike them ) -

Well, bless them and let's hope they never have to go through this .

      Angel blessings

If I were you I would remind my non- understanding

daughter that she has the same genes and will possibly ย need a

hipย replacement at some time! Then she will find out what it's like.

Just because we've had hip ops it doesn't mean we've lost our

fighting spirit.. In fact we need it to recover.

      Love Cathie

Exactly - don't you just hate anyone who says its "routine"!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I work in a busy restaurant, and my manager thinks I will be back to work in 8 weeks as it is only a "routine operation"!!!!!! Somehow don't think so, maybe after 12 weeks definitely not 8!!! ย Some people are so clueless - before I finished work to have the op she as well as the other staff were telling me I'd be back after 6 weeks ๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ™Š I only hope they never have to go through it.....

Hi Cathie - exactly we definitely need our fighting spirit to recover - think I've just found mine again, I'm sure I lost it these past few weeks lol!!!!

As for my daughter - because I've always been fit and healthy, she seems to think I should be fully recovered at 5 weeks lol!!!!! She's been listening to too many non hippies who "know better" . ย I only hope she never has to go through this - then she just might realise just how physically and mentally draining it is!!!

Im going to stay with her next week for a few days so that should be fun ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

No doubt I'll be on here quite a few times next week lol - will need the support. ย Perhaps it will open her eyes as to just how "routine" the op is๐Ÿ˜

      Love Carol ๐Ÿ˜˜

      Carol,

I'm nine and a half weeks, and cannot walk without a stick - certainly not fit for work yet.

      Graham - ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ’ƒ

      Hi Graham

Im sure I won't be fit for work until 12/14 weeks! ย Just the idiots I work with think that I should be back after 6-8 weeks ๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ™Šย

They really have no idea - but I'm not going to worry about that now, will just take it one step at a time ๐Ÿ˜€
