Possibilities of sjögren's syndrome or other related conditions

hi all,

i developed left eye dry eye two years ago after having many episodes of panic attacks. since panic attacks cause some sort of immune dysfunction or nerve dysfunction in the body, i would like to know if i would be suffering from sjögren's syndrome or any other related condition. it has been two years and i have not been able to cure my left eye dry eye. what makes me feel why i might be suffering from sjögren's or any other related condition is that only my left eye is affected and not right. i would also like to let you know that my left nose inferior turbinate is slightly damaged and reduced as the turbinate has turned white due to an experience last year (after smelling spices to reduce turbinate swelling). this nose condition could also be contributing i believe.

your help would be greatly appreciated.

neel.

Listen, im no Dr but im pretty sure panic attacks do not cause dry eyes. However, if you are taking anti anxiety medication that can cause dry eyes. So wo knowing your circumstances im guessing that may be the case.

To relieve dry eye use hot compresses 2-4x/day. Get a nice one that warms up in the microwave (dont buy a plastic one).

    There you are cured.

lol. warm Compress 2-4 times will NOT CURE YOU. dont give them false hope. I've had dry eye for 6 years there is no cure. only management. go see a dry eye specialist. warm compress MAY help, but its only in management and only thing that is required If needed. if a warm compress was the only thing people needed many people would be "cured" of dry eye. find out if you have mgd/blepharitis/aquaeous deficient dry eye. and go try the many treatments available. ipl, lipiflow, punctual plugs, cyclosporin, serum drops, sclera lenses. these are the named few of what you can do for your dry eye. also the starting points of artificial tears and gels. good luck! hope you find relief... I havent.

Well you probably had a laser eye procedure of some sort, like me, that screwed your eyes up. where are the ophthalmologists now? Then they want more money from us for lipiflow / IPL.

If this person hasn't had a laser procedure done then compresses will work, maybe blinking exercises too, but for us there is no hope.

Don't ever so a laser eye procedure.

no computer use. but I dont like the word cured... its giving false hope. if you have dry eye you know it's not curable... I havent had lasik but it barely works for me and blinking exercises. it depends on the severity of it. I have allergies and mild mgd... so I havent had relief in 6 years. I just wanted to mention this.

thank you both for replying to this post. warm compresses not always provide relief, as we may know. i have not had any laser surgery. i do use computer a lot for work purposes which makes dry eye even worse. blinking helps, along with 20-20-20. bad sleep makes dry eye even worse for me. currently, i am focusing on manuka honey as well as omega supplement. wish there was an easy way out from this problem.

Don't ever have any laser eye surgery bec its will amplify the dry eye tenfold.

you can also try Omega 3 supplements and they are avail in liquid form (the pills are huge and hard to swallow)
