Possibility of herpes?

I recently dated someone that has herpes, they didn't tell me until after we had protected sex. They haven't had an outbreak in 7 years and has never given it to anyone. The only thing that we did that could possibly contract the virus was kiss and have unprotected oral sex. Having told me after the fact I completely said I was done. It has been about 6 weeks since sex and oral contact and call it bad timing but I have had what I thought to be symptoms but just feel like my mind is playing tricks on me. I have had ingrown hairs in the pubic area as well as a sore throat. I haven't experienced any clusters or blisters, no pain during urination or anything like that. 3 weeks after the first oral encounter I got tested and it was negative but my mind still messes with me. The doc said I'm probably more than fine but I still want to know. It sounds like I'm okay right?
