Possible Balanitis and hydration problems for 6 months

Hi. I am new to the forum and have had problems with penis pain/inflammation since February. Started with dark pee on a warm day when I hadn't had enough to drink. There was blood in the pee so went to the Dr who thought it was a UTI and it cleared up after 2 courses of antibiotics. I was still a bit uncomfortable and had another episode of dehydration (no blood this time) in April. Since then i have had 4 more episodes of dehydration - always after playing golf on a warm day. More recently i have increased water intake but have overdone it on a couple of occasions, triggering another uncomfortable 24 hours. I have had a PSA test (very low, 0.35) and an ultrasound scan of kidneys, bladder, urinary tract etc - all normal. Also had 6 pee tests, one showed an infection (not a UTI) none had any blood. I have seen the Dr today and he has arranged blood test for diabetes, liver function etc. Symptoms are redness on glands and opening of penis, slight burning when peeing, low level discomfort and peeing 3/4 times at night (previously once or twice). I have a further course of antibiotics recently as Dr thought it might be urethritis - there was no change. I am on warfarin (So might explain blood episode) , allopurinol and statins. Life goes on as before but less fulfilling constantly monitering pee and water intake. I have given up alchohol (Didnt drink much anyway) and caffeine. Only current treatment is Daktacort cream. Any advice welcome!

Are you in the UK Mark? I am wondering whether you have access to medical professionals of your choice and whether you have seen a urologist? Have you been dealing with one Regular / Family Doctor / GP, or have you seen several ....... ?

Dr said seeing Urologist would be a waste of time as ultrasound was clear, PSA was low and no evidence of a UTI

Okay, given what the GP's have told you what do you believe is the best explanation for what you have? Or, do you think they have not got to the bottom of what is happening for you?
Daktacort is the only current medication you have for the symptoms on the skin of your penis? Here is the details of what it is:
.
Daktacort cream is a medicine which is used to treat inflamed conditions of the skin such as eczema and dermatitis which may be caused by infection with certain fungi and bacteria. The cream contains the following ingredients:
.
Are you sexually active and not using condoms I take it? How long have you been using the Daktacort?

Using laptop as ipad replies don't stay! The Dr thinks it's most likely Balanitis. I have been using Daktacort for 5 weeks and Dr has said to keep with it for now - it has helped, symptoms are mild and am now sleeping around 3 hours between peeing (was previously 4.5-5 hours so am now back to normal). There is an oral treatment for it which the Dr wants to try but it can affect liver function so have a had a blood test today, including that and diabetes, kidneys etc. I guess the other possibility is that it is urethritis that hasn't responded to the course of antibiotics I had in early July. I thought it might be prostatitis but I only have one symptom (soreness and inflammation on penis and foreskin) and Dr says v unlikely to be anything to do with prostate with such a low PSA result. Not particularly sexually active, last time was several weeks ago, using a condom.

Sorry - intervals between peeing should read NOT back to normal

So how long ago did you first start to treat the Balanitis type symptoms? If it is the 5 weeks my guess would be it is time to start using something stronger that Daktacort.
What may be the best approach is to deal with the skin problem on your penis separately and for this you need a Dermatologist. If you have had inflammation of the skin - the Balanitis symptoms, for around 6 months then this is too long. You need to see a specilaist if this is the case.
The other thing you can do is to go to a GUM Clinic at your local General Hospital and explain you have had a variety of symptoms for around six months and that you just want it all sorted out so that you can get back to normal. The person to ask to see at the GUM is a Urologist, they will assess and should suggest whether you also need to see a Dermatologist, and preferably, one that deals with Genital Skin Disorders - ask if there is no mention of this.
Essentially, 6 months is too long - if you have been dealing with one doctor in the main, certainly time to see a specialist, or even both the ones I mention ......

Will see what blood tests are and, if normal, Dr will give me stronger treatment

If symptoms persist after that, I will see a specialist - dermatologist is probably best. Thanks
