Possible costochondritis

Is there anyone here that suffers from condochondritis? It has been mentioned that I could possibly be suffering from this, although no doctor has actually examined me by touch. If you are unfortunately suffering from this... Do you get pain in your back? If so, where and what sort of pain is it? I have pain in my back aswell as my ribs but I can't work out of the pain is coming primarily from my back.

My ribs do hurt to touch and the ribs below my breast line hurt on movement, coughing and laughing. I've had this pain for 7 weeks now and I'm so worried its something more serious 😢

Any help would be so greatly appreciated x

Is there a reason you haven't been for a physical exam by a doctor? No one online can possibly give or even suggest a diagnosis.

General Practitioners are pretty useless diagnosing this. I wouldnt even bother with them. My experience with them twice was to just say take some nurofen and it should clear up in a couple of weeks. So, I self diagnosed and went to an osteopath for 3 sessions who also diagnosed it. I would say that despite the odd flare up that I am 90%+ better 3 years down the line. My trigger was right back, shoulder and neck pain due to 25 years of driving circa 90000 miles per year. The "lock up" problem then affects the sternum/rib joints. See a well respected osteopath who has actually heard of Costochondritis. I hope you make a good recovery.

I have seen 3 different doctors none of which have examined me physically. It was on a visit to A&E because of the pain that a doctor there said it could be possible costochondritis but apart from a quick press on my back he didn't physically examine me either. So I am assuming that is my diagnosis...i have another appointment with the gp next week so am going to discuss it further then.

I was diagnosed with costochondritis about 2 years ago by my rheumatologist. My Sternum is sore and the soreness spreads all the way around my back on some days. Today I have a spot about the size of a silver dollar that is sore and achy. I also have a feeling like something is stuck under my rib on the same side. The only thing that helps is taking ibuprofen or Aleve.

I have been suffering this costochondritis since July 18, 2018 thats when it hit me so hard I could not breath and I was in unbearable pain to the point I thought I was having a heart attack.

I went to emergency room and they did many tests blood, x-rays, and other medical tests as well as a physical exam. I was ruled out that I did in fact have Costochondritis as my ribs were extremely sore. I was given pain medication as well as anti-inflammatory medication and told to go home and rest. The symptoms to follow with this was none stop pain and discomfort, difficulty breathing, and waking up every morning feeling like I was going to puke I would run to bathroom but nothing would happen. In the summer time I could not go out side when it was too hot or too warm as I found I could not breath. I am still in a lot of pain and yes the pain does go to the upper part of your back behind the ribs and it makes it hard to breath, move etc. I was referred to a Cardiologist who did a blood work testing for multiple different things, Stress test which due to the condition I couldn't complete due to having problems breathing, He did an Holter monitor test and my last test is an Eco Altra sound. I then see him for all results in 2020. I have been off work for a year and going on the 5th month as my Doctor will not allow me to work until this is all sorted out. I am Youth Counselor and its really hard for me not to be able to work, I also have a gym at home and cannot workout advised by both GP and Cardiologist. The medication I have been on is Tylenol #3's, Tramadol, Ketorilac, Novo Diclofinic, Anxiety meds and that is one of the symptoms, and another medicaiton to help take the nausea away. I would recommend you get a proper exam from your GP. And ask to be sent to a Specialist for further investigation.
