Hi all , short as I can ..ive suffered. Pain in my lower. Abdomen. Since. Having my first child almost. 13 years ago now ..ive had so many different. Tests .. And everytime. Pushed and told I have IBS ..i never believe. Them as I know. My own body ..ive been. Scanned. And shown cysts b4 and then just sent home and ignored...back in 2012 just. After we re located south ..england ...i had a scan that showed. What they said was an abnormal cyst ..next doc said it looked. Like a endometriosis cyst..so I had a laproscopy ..told it was just. A fybroid and left in pain ...since. I have had my 3rd child and when pregnant scan showed. Yet another. Cyst ...again ignored...so I asked back November 2014 for a scan ...had it December 15th ...guess. It showed. A cyst ...the lady asked id I ever had a name for my cysts ...well not. Really ....so she said it looks. Like a dermoid. Cyst....about 1 hour after getting. Home my doctor. Called and told me its a large. Cyst and he has referred me to a gyno . Wich my app is on the 22nd Jan 2015 ...i rang doc back with a few questions he didn't really say much but I asked him how long has it been there and he told me its the same one I had in 2012 ...im now left confused and a little angry I've been messed around so long...his wife doctor a few weeks b4 gave me ibs pills and just went on telling me how we all get cysts and they go but my pain is ibs ..... I know its not :-( my side is hurting my lower tummy , my back ..odly my right leg im really hoping this time I get answers .

Hi Amy and Sylvia, the doc did ring back. Basically there were no cancellations on Monday 12th so they couldn't fit me in to see the consultant, so now they have booked me in for when he is next in on 23rd Feb! I told him I was disappointed since I had waited already 2 weeks to find this out and if they had referred me 2 weeks ago to the hospital I probably would have had an appointment by now, and a good chance it nay have been sooner 😔. His answer was in short, that may be true but it's too late now if he refers to hospital at this stage it will def be longer. He said if it gets bad again like on Xmas night to contact him and he can do an immediate emergency refer. Pretty ridiculous as the chances of a flare up conveniently occurring in GP hours is unlikely. So I just have to wait again. I have the gastro consultant follow up Thurs so I'll see what she says

Hi Louise, So sorry they seem to be messing you about. I went each week for 3 weeks before Xmas for appointments so can't complain about care received, but Feb 23rd seems a long way off especially when you are in pain! Take care xx

Hey all well amazing hopefully on the way to a final and proper diagnosation The specialist was very to the point ...he said that it looked like a dermoied cyst but the only way of knowing is for them to look and take it out and that would be my ovary to

Then he said BUT he is not sure that its that thats causing my pain as cyst is 3.4 he went on to say he THINKS its something else thats been mentioned many years back in 2012 that was brushed off ...he says my pain maybe Endometriosis and the way he wants to find out if he is wright he wants to put me on the pill for 3 months no break and says if my symptoms get better its that ....but also im to have another scan end feb ...and after all that i see him again and he will decide if to remove all

That's good news Amy, really pleased to hear you are getting somewhere. Dermoid cysts can be painful though even if small, if say for example they are bleeding or causing torsion. Either way looks like you will find out soon x

Hi Amy- that's good news I think. At least no surgery at the moment and the pill might sort it out. They do usually just 'monitor' cysts below 5cm with 3 monthly ultrasound scans.  I go Tuesday  at 7.30 am for surgery-laparoscopy,laparotomy or hysterectomy. I can't wait to get it done now and start recovering. x

Hi amy + and louise I never had any pain. I'm feeling great 4 weeks after a full hysterectomy and omentum removal- I didn't have ovarian cancer but at my age (74) they say it's best to get everything removed then can't cause trouble in the future. The omentum is a large blanket-like organ which covers the bowel, womb, ovaries etc. It's protective, full of white blood cells.BUT at my age it attracts cancer cells and a lady( aged 50)  who had exactly what I had done on same day found the omentum was cancerous and is sadly now having chemo. All I can say is the care I have received was amazing. I was in hospital 48 hours-pain relief after the op was great- morphine button to press on demand then all I took was paracetomol and they were enough. After a week I was doing short walks, but you do need more sleep and rests and to remember not to lift anything over 5lbs for a while. I have also driven the car after 31/2 weeks as it's automatic anyway and been out socialising with friends.Feeling good and very relieved after a scary Xmas and New year. Remember MOST cysts are harmless.Louise what happened today ? Did you get any answers ? xx
