Possible Fibro?

For the last month I have been experiencing symptoms of potential fibromyalgia but still have no idea what is wrong with me. The pain symptoms are the constant chest and upper back pain that stay mostly on the left of my chest but sometimes will migrate over to the right so you can understand how scary this can be. I am a 21 year old male who especially from what the doctors tests say am pretty healthy.

Symptoms:

Neck ache pain

Chest ache pain

Upper back ache pain

Random Shooting pains all over body

Brain fog especially when I am active for a period of time or go out with friends. It kind of just comes over me. I feel very disconnected.

Shakiness some mornings

Muscle twitching

Lump in throat/sore throat pain

I recently went into the doctor after a trip to the er (scared I was going to have a heart attack)

The following was done and all came back perfectly normal:

Complete blood count

Thyroid blood test

SED blood test

Chest X-ray

EKG

Lyme's test

The doctor literally said my blood tests came back textbook perfect.

So the tests for Lyme's came back negative but I have been exposed to very tick prone areas quite frequently this summer. My doc decided to put me on doxycycline anyways just to rule out Lyme's as the tests are very innacurate. I started that today and will see if I have results. I am just curious if I'm still battling this after the meds do you think this could be fibro related or can you think of anything else this could be i should bring up to my doctor. It worries me that the constant aching is mostly on the left side of my body.

Not much help, but feeling similar. the shakiness & brain fog? Any problems with low blood sugar? My sugar issues got pretty bad this week and I woke up every morning feeling downright awful. Just thought I would throw that out there. It can make you fuzzy and confused, shaky if it's really low.

Yes it can most definitely be Fibromyalgia. I think there are thousands of men who have FM but who don't speak up about what the symptoms they are experiencing. Good that you are seeking insight bman. I also think that you may suffer from an anxiety disorder such as GAD. General Anxiety Disorder. The stresses of life build up into developing this condition. There are some really great books on GAD that can give you strategies and ways of coping better and easing your anxiety. Wishing you better days ahead. Maggie

I know it is a struggle Vitav. I know it is very hard to do but try to concentrate on the positive things in your life. FM is not life threatening as least. Other conditions can stem from it of course but in the long run, it is usually manageable. There are bad days of course, but you will have some more moderate days as well. Just nurture yourself on days like now and try to get your mind off your symptoms. Take something for your headache and maybe read a novel. Get out in the sun if the weather permits. Vit D is absolutely essential for us. If you have a pet, have a cuddle. Take some pleasure in simple everyday things. I have had FM for over 30 years and I have found simple pleasures to help immensely. Don't despair on your bad days. And I am sure you do have better ones. Everyone is struggling with something today Vitav. No one escapes problems, either with their health or family problems or something else. We all must find ways to cope. Many of us suffer from worry. But Worry is of no real value. Strategies and seeking help doing research or distracting our mind can help us a great deal. Dwelling on our symptoms only bring us down. Don't despair dear one. You are never alone in your struggles.

Thanks so much Mag! Yes I have a wonderful hubby and children. I love my job! I love the life I have been given but sometimes idk if it FM or something else going on with me. That's what scares me. How do I know the diff?! I never know!! I've had so many test and nothing. Mag do you have problems with your digestive system?

Yes sweetie often. There are homeopathic remedies that can help with that. Also watch your foods and be a bit of a detective when you get a digestive symptom. I am gluten intolerant and avoiding it completely has greatly improved my digestion. Also if you are Lactose intolerant, it can play havoc with your gut. Try papaya too which has natural enzymes. And I can see that you have sooo much to be grateful for Vitav. Concentrate on these amazing blessings. So many have so little today. Our outlook is very important.

Thanks so much Mag! ? However I tried the papaya and It didn't seem to help. And yes I have been lactose intolerant for 13 years now. I do watch my diet and that does seem to help. I no longer drink soda for about 3 years now. Certain things blow me up like I'm pregnant. Smh! Mag, if u don't mind what are you taking for pain management?

The only pain meds I take Vitav is when I get a migraine. I take Ibuprofen. Personally I prefer not to take meds because of the side effects which are sometimes horrendous. I manage my pain more holistically. Nothing weird, just massage, acupuncture sometimes, Epsom Salts baths, making sure I get calcium and magnesium, sunbaths, mild exercise and lowering stress and anxiety which causes more pain in the body.

I am totally with you. I also take ibuprofen 800 mg ( but sometimes it upsets my stomach) sometimes tylenol works okay. They try and try to give me antidepressants but I refuse. I will start doing more Epson salt baths. You have been sooooo helpful Mag!!! I might not understand FM and why we are suffering from this but I'm happy I've found some support!! Thanks a bunch!!

You are most welcome sweetie. FM is usually a result of a very prolonged stress or trauma. Life is not easy in this stress related world where life is full of challenges. Usually we take on more than we can and we often think that other people are our responsibility and we try to sort out their problems. I have learnt that if someone only complains and does not do anything to help themselves, they are just looking to dump on a person. So pick and choose carefully who you give your emotional and physical energy to Vitav. You already have plenty on your plate with a husband and kids. I am a giving person but I am careful now and try to maintain a healthy balance. Build yourself up, self esteem, self worth sweetie. That is a gift you can give yourself but most of all to your family. Take stock of all your lovely qualities. When we build ourselves up, we are less likely to run out of our precious emotional energy. And as for Ibuprofen, make sure you take it with food.
