Possible hernia?

Hi all,
Yesterday I visited my GP about (what I thought was) pain in my left testicle and feelings of Nausea (on and off. Mainly on though and every day) I've had everyday for over three weeks. The testicle pain hasn't been there three weeks but its gradually got worse over the last few days. I also feel pain in the left inner thigh and on the left side of my groin.
My GP was brilliant as she saw me within 3 hours of my distressed telephone conversation. Anyway, she checked out the testes and told me they seemed fine, however, after feeling my upper and lower abdomen she seemed (fairly) confident that I had a hernia in my groin and that she would arrange for me to have an ultrasound to check if this is the case. I asked her if a hernia would explain my ongoing nausea and she said yes, particularly if part of my bowel had got into the hernia.
I know I shouldn't do this but I couldn't help but google the symptoms of a hernia. All the sites I looked at seemed to confirm the theory of referred pain to the leg and testicles, but they also stated that feelings of nausea or vomiting could be a sign of strangulation of the bowel which is potentially lethal. My GP didn't seem overly concerned about my nausea though.
Has anyone else experienced ongoing nausea with a hernia? Is this normal?
Of course it may not even be a hernia (there is no visible sign) though the GP could feel it trying to protrude when I was asked to cough. Whatever it is though its certainly making me feel very rough and more than a bit miserable.
