possible ovarian cyst?

I am wondering if anyone has similar symptoms to me and can offer any advise. I have a transnational scan and I'm getting myself worked up a bit as have been suffering for so long I'm worried they won't find anything and any support would be great.

I have been suffering with alternate constipation and diarrhoea for 18 months, had a proctogram,  sigmoidoscopy,  transit study and anal manometry tests. All of which came back clear. I have been told I am going through a phase or have severe ibs.

The other symptoms I have is a constant dragging sensation in my pelvis, fullness even though I can't eat, severe bloating and sharp stabbing pains along with dull aches in my pelvis and to the left of my abdomen.  They are scanning to check I don't have any cysts and I'm dreading them coming back with nothing. It has been going on for too long and I know it's not a phase.

I was wondering if anyone here has intestinal problems with cysts?

A common symptom of both cysts and fibroids. Cysts and IBS seem a common combination but the symptoms of one can lead to a diagnosis of the other.

Cysts press on many things including the bowel and diaphram.

If your scan comes back clear it means little bar the fact there wre no cysts visible at the time. They may then decide to do a Hysteroscopy to check for fibroids. Exploratory surgery know as exploratory Laporoscopy may also be considered, this is keyhole daycare.

Please let me know what they say and I will advise further from there.

Rest assured you are not alone, I had cysts and your symptoms sound horribly familiar.

      Hi Taz,

Thank you so much for your reply I have been going out of my mind thinking I was the only one feeling like this. I mentioned at the very start could it be due to cysts, fibroids or endo, I also have a retroverted uterus but was told that none of it would cause my chronic constipation. Then the alternating with diarrhoea started and they suspected all sorts but when all the tests came back clear I was fobbed off with its just a phase or ibs and expected to cope. I finally have the ultrasound and I'm scared it's going to come back clear despite knowing something is definitely wrong. I have Google searched all symptoms but after being told that nothing is wrong from the specialists it's nice to hear from someone first hand that I'm not going mad!

I will let you know how it goes on Thursday,  thanks for your support it means a lot.

I'm guessing you know what your condition is now? I hope it is under control as best it can be, being ill isn't fun at the best of times but to have a chronic condition singles you out from society. I'm so happy I found this forum to talk to similar people

I do and the answer for me was an operation which was done 15th Sept.

Too much fobbing off is done these days leaving people feeling alone and neurotic when they are not.

      Hi Margaret,

Thank you for your reply, that sounds awful! I'm glad you're all sorted, I can't believe it takes so long for these things to get properly diagnosed.

You're right it's my body and you know your own body when something isn't right. My friends have ibs and my symptoms are a lot worse and are different from theirs so I'm not convinced it's what I have, also ibs reacts to what you eat and my symptoms don't change regardless of what I eat. I actually manage mine through eating very little, even a packet of crisps is enough to bloat me to 9 months pregnant size and I feel so heavy and full. It's not normal.

I am really hoping the test reveals something tomorrow,  I have had so many and nothing has been found I'm worried that if they find nothing tomorrow I am going to be stuck like this forever.

I shall keep you updated after my scan tomorrow I am going to ask that she tell me immediately if there is anything on there.  It's been 18 months with no answers no diagnosis and no treatment and I have had enough!

Thank you for your support. I hope you are health issue free now :-) xx
