Possible prodrome symptoms

Posted , 2 users are following.

I was diagnosed with HSV type2 about 4 weeks ago, had a shocking bad first outbreak (i wont go into detail as im sure you all know what i mean!) and within a week of taking aciclovir it had pretty much cleared up.

Since then i've felt well and trying to be healthier and look after myself as my doctor suggested. Only issue now is a few minor symptoms i think im currently having. I must add that i am female for the sake of location etc. i feel very odd down there, no pain or itching or blisters, but a strange feeling. all around that area and towards my buttocks that feels as though my nerves have woken up and its asif im much more aware of that area for want of a better expression!

I've tried googling prodromal symptoms but all i get is first outbreak symptoms which im only too aware of and it feels nothing like that at all.

could this just be because the virus is now residing in my nerves and therefore i am more aware of whats going on inside them or is this possible prodrome phase?

i am going back to my GUM clinic on monday to pick up several boxes of aciclovir to keep at home incase of an outbreak.

i appreciate any advice you could give me but i dont want vague answers as i can get that from google and arent very helpful smile

thanks in advance guys!

Unfortunately the internet is vague because there is not a great deal you can do

Seems that everyone experiences different reactions - more so in women

We can be told the standards by doctors but reading around everyone's experience is different at different times.

    All you can do is:

    1) confirm 100% by blood tests

    2) Take acyclovir when you feel something not right

    3) Read about Shingles vaccine

    4) As you said, adopt healthier lifestyle - I find alcohol is bad and excess sugar eg. sweets, chocolate. Also lack of sleep, cold weather and stress are not helpful at all.

    5) Seek specialist advice if you ever plan to give birth

    6) Most importantly avoid passing on by using condoms always

Thank for for answering but I think you mis read my question. I have had blood tests and everything else done (hence diagnosed with) and was looking for people who could tell me about their proteome symptoms so I know what to look out for.

    Hi smile

For Years, it was much as you have described. Though perhaps not in the same area for me. The nervous system wakes up With a vengeance! For me lower back, buutox, sharp back leg pain, very much the same as I imagine sciatica would feel like. Then will come the swollen glands. Then the outbreak. I found it really important to understand the onset symptoms, to avoid passing onn. My symptoms would occur some time before the lesion appeared, at times I have (tho few times) avoided a lesion by treatment b4 outbreak (anti virals). Over the years it has changed considerably. The glands never let me down tho, can gaurantee with me they swell so I do regularly check them. My onset systems now (20 yrs since contracted) are barely noticed and can be mistaken. The last time was the nerves in a toe!!! Hold on to what u have said. My understanding is the virus lays dorment in the base of your spinal, until an outbreak. Then it transmits to your nerve endings. So if ur feeling sensitive, pain in your nervous system then I think tthis is a pre warning it's coming. I never suffered itchiness (except at the end of tthe sores drying out) and a burning sensation only happened on my first attack due to open lesions and peeing! Nor a cold / fever with any OB. NOpe all nerves and glands for me. So to be vague..... :P.... I bet different people suffer differently. You will if u are a recurrant sufferer know yoour own body and the signs. As a last. Sentence I am now years free from. An OB and i use to be a terrible recurrant sufferer. So Immune systems do win! And keep the things dorment that neither u nor your immune system wanna see smile. Stay strong, and keep asking the experts at the GUM? Questions you have. I do /have over the years. Good luck!

thankyou so much for this response! obviously it sucks that you are a fellow sufferer of this but im so glad we can share these experiences and learn from other people how to spot signs. i agree totally, its like my nervous system has jumped into action all of a sudden.

i guess it learning what sets your body off with an outbreak and then learning to take control of that with anti virals and creams etc that helps us to beat this to a certain extent. its only been a short time since ice had this but already i have gotten over the initial shock as this can make you a hell of a lot worse mentally and physically and there is no way in hell that i want another outbreak like my first one!

i wonder if i am noticing the nerve sensations more so now as its only been about two weeks since all my sores went away and its gone into hiding for now. i do check regularly to make sure as i know they can pop up within a few hours in some cases.

Lets hope my immune system likes me enough to contain this little bugger of a virus (i wont call it a disease, too stereotypical)
