Hi  I am worried sick for my poor Hubby , who has enough problems. On Monday he has to go into our local Royal surrey Hospital in Guildford for a Biopsy. No one has talked him through. Hes Disabled with on going Osteo-arthritis of the knees, hips and neck. Also deaf & Severely sighted. He had a duodennul ulcer in May as he was a load of drugs for Arthritis, which I have taken him off as he has a tens machine. We are both concerned about Monday. Please if any one can give us any Ideas I would be so grateful. Poor Hubby is dreading this whole thing.regards amandah

    Hi,

I was sent to Basingstoke for a suspicious mole, my GP referred me to the dermatology clinic. They were very good and looked over my body and decided that 3 moles looked a bit iffy.

They took me through to another room and 2 nurses took over. They gave me local anaesthetic and the whole procedure took about 35 minutes.

2 weeks later I returned for results and 1 mole had to be cut away further because it was a malignant melanoma. All sorted now , I have to have 3 monthly check up. No pain whatever, all very gentle.

    Good luck, mike.

    Hi,

No bother at all. No , I did not put a gown on. I was sat down a as I have multiple cervical spine problems so could not mobilise fully. I cannot praise the dermatology clinic enough, they put you at ease with their chatting and make you as comfortable as possible, I am sure that Guildford, another hospital I frequent, will be a simular experience.

The thing about skin cancers are getting them under control quickly, hence be prepared for a/some small ops on the day.

    Mike.

Hello Amanda, why don't you go with your husband to hold his hand. My wife does that for me.

I prefer it to because it gives both of us what we need to know at the time. Also two sets of ears is always the way to go.

Biopsy is a simple procedure and I am sure that if you explain your situation and fears you will be well catered for.

As with most things early detection is the essence so you have that on your side.

    Best wishes to you both.
