Possible Surgery

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have just seen respiratory consultant to get results of CT scan and lung function tests, and althogh the clots have dispersed a little he is still concerned that the clots are still there and I do still get a little breathless at times.

He has referred me to Papworth Hospital to see the specialists there who deal with the surgery to get rid of the clots.  I have read up a little on this and am terrified as this is major surgery,  He has said that there is a small possibility that i will not need the surgery but he wants me to see them and have any tests done that they want.

Was hoping for good news now just feel really fed up.

Hi Debbie. So sorry to hear you didn't get better news. I went to doctors yesterday as back pain really bad. I Asked if I would have another scan to see if clots have dispersed. She said she didn't think so. My blood pressure was high so having blood tests Tuesday. Are you in UK? . I hope all is ok and you wont need surgery. I still get breathless walking far. or doing hoovering etc. Take care.x

I get good days and not so good days. I hope all goes well with

      your blood tests.

    Hi Debbie,

Sorry to hear the news was not what you were hoping for.  It is possible that the specialist is referring you just to cover all eventualities.  (I was pretty alarmed when I was referred to oncologist, but found out later it was to ensure bleeding was only caused by anticoagulants).

I was told that surgery is not common for PEs - are you sure he didn't say there was a small chance you will need surgery (rather than here was a small chance you will not need surgery)?

Good luck at Papworth - my dad had long term heart treatment and I heard so many good things about them and their skills.

      Hi Peter

Thank you for your kind reply.

I think he is covering all possibilities but he does seem to think

that surgery is a strong possibility, although there is a chance

that things will clear. I still have right side heart strain due to the

      clots and an enlarged artery.

I am hoping and praying that these issues will repair themselves

      given time.

      Take care
