Possible untreated STI in the past. Currently treating ureaplasma infection.

Sorry for my English in advance. I'm not a native speaker, I just love this site.

I'm 32 now. When I was 15 I was raped and never sought help. I just took a pill to make sure I don't get pregnant, and that was it. A few days after that I had horrible, painful itch between my legs. My vaginal opening was particularly inflamed. It was agony. There were tiny white blisters on my labia minora and vaginal opening. I think there was discharge, too, but I'm not sure now.

I was foolish enough not to go to a doctor with that. And then, a few days later, the symptoms were just gone. Not long afterwards I had severe urinary tract infection to the point that there was blood in my urine, but it stopped on itself as well. Now I think it was STI, but I have no idea what it was exactly.

I know it was reckless of me not to seek help, and I'm not usually so neglectful when it comes to my health, but I think I just wanted to sweep everything under a carpet and forget it ASAP, which I, sort of, did. I didn't want anyone at all to know anything about it. Apparently, I didn't want to know either.

I haven't had much sex. I've only had a couple of partners since then, and we've always used condoms even when it was a long-term relationship.

Recently, I've been diagnosed with ureaplasma infection and I'm currently taking azithromycin to treat it. I suddenly started wondering if it could be the aftermath of what happened many years ago and if it could continue asymptomatically for so many years. I just can't find any information that UI can cause such severe symptoms I experienced back then and whether there's any connection. What I have now (slight discharge that made my doctor recommend some tests in the first place) doesn't even come close, but it still makes me wonder.

I am sorry about the rape. That is just horrible and I am sending you healing thoughts and a hug. Ureaplasma can be dormant (hidden) for many years and I am glad you have seen a dr. A course of antibiotics should resolve the issue. By the way, your english is very good. Take care

Thank you so much for your support and info! I really appreciate it.

And you're right, looks like the course of azithromycin has been successful. I was told to make another test in a couple of weeks just to be on the safe side.

      Again, thank you!
