Possible UTI- finished antibiotics- still constant urination

Hello- about a week ago I noticed I needed the toilet Constantly and had pelvic dull aches so I went to the doctors- she did the dip test which showed signs of infection so I was put on antibiotics. However the urine culture came back negative. It's the day after my last antibiotic and I am still urinating every half an hour. I don't know whether it's in my head and my body has got used to peeing all the time or whether there's something wrong. Every time I've had a UTI the culture has always been negative... I've read that this can be normal and just means it's not a bad infection. If anyone could share some advice would be very appreciated. The constant need to urinate is making my pelvic muscles ache! Thank you

So here is what I have learned, it is possible that you could have a yeast infection or some other vaginal infection, it can cause the dipstick to show wbc, but the bacteria is not in the bladder which is why there is no growth in the urine. Yeast infections can cause swelling, and burning around the uretha and can make you feel like you have to urinate more often. Not saying that is what it is, but possible. Because I have become resistant to antibiotocs, I urge people to wait on the cultures before they treat themselves for a UTI. The urinalyis dip stick tests are great as they give and indication of an infection, but often times antibiotics are given before the cultures come back, and people take them and they did in fact not have an infection, so the next time they actually get an infection it could be harder to treat. I know because this has happened to me. I now have to rely on natural remedies for UTI's. Antibiotics are great when used properly, but they can wreck havoc on the systems killing off good bacteria making your body more prone to more infections. I remember I used to get strep throat over and over again, and I had to take antibiotcs over and over again. I think because the antibiotic killed off all the good stuff, it made me more prone to get the bacteria back. It is a vicious cycle. Anyways, just speaking from experience.

All of the antibiotics that are suitable for UTI's that I used to be able to take, I can no longer tolerate, meaning I have terrible reactions to them and I am unable to finish the course...I get severe itching, rash, short of breath, sore throat and slight swelling. I used to be able to take all of these antibiotics many years ago for infections. A lot of the times I was prescribed based on symptoms, but no cultures were ever done. So what I have done is I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to flush out my system, eat low sugar diet, increase probiotics, and real cranerry juice or cranberry capsules, what made the difference with my symptoms is when I started taking D-mannose.....that relieved the symptoms, this supplement pulls away the bacteria.....I have had two cultures done in the past couple weeks and there is no longer any growth. I still am taking all these things now as a preventative as I do not want to have it return.

Hi there
I feel your pain! This has happened to me a few times the doctor has told me there is no infection when it feels like there is. I, like you, thought I had gotten used to going to the toilet all the time (I still urinate way too frequently after 5 years of this problem). Have you read up on interstitial cystitis? Its possible you could have developed that from the sounds of your symptoms. I'm pretty sure I have it, its untreatable which is really annoying and I'm 24 so it can only get worse from here right
One thing i will say is don't let the doctors fob you off with antibiotics. That's what they've been doing to me for years and now they have stopped working. Make a fuss until they refer you to a specialist and don't rest until they have explored every possibility. If only I could go back and do that, knowing what I know now!
Take probiotics, cranberry tabs, d-mannose (if you can find it where you are as I know you said amazon don't deliver to you). It won't cure it but it may relieve some symptoms.
Good luck!
