Possible Walking Pneumonia symptoms..I need some advice..

Ok so for the past 6 weeks,I've had this really bad cough that comes in violent spasms..it doesn't really produce any mucus. I also run a low grade fever on and off, have cold chills, some trouble breathing, and a general feeling of weakness. My doctor's original diagnosis was Bronchitis, and I've been on:2 rounds of steroid pills,a round of antibiotics, and I even had to go to the hospital to get breathing treatments one night, after I had a violent coughing spasm and started having shortness of breath. Does it sound like I could have Walking Pneumonia?

Yes it sounds like walking pneumonia to me. What antibiotic did you take and what dose? Did it do anything?it could be viral.

The antibiotic the doctor prescribed was Z-Pack(Azithromycin)..the dosage was 250mg per pill. The antibiotic didnt do anything..In fact the coughing is worse now since I last saw my doctor a few weeks ago. I had to visit the ER last week because I was having trouble breathing, and they had to give me 2 breathing treatments. Luckily I have another appointment with my doctor on Thursday

What did the hospital say about it? Did they not give you anything there like a different antibiotic? Did they x ray you? Well don't be disheartened if x ray is clear coz they usually don't pick up less serious infections , doesn't mean it's not there n making you miserable. You might need a different antibiotic like amoxicillin. If your getting mucus they can test it for a bug. If not a blood culture might work. The change in antibiotic might just do it.

I'v an awful dilemma same symptoms as you suspect walking pneumonia or mild pneumonia back in October n I still have n it's now March. Why ? Because a stupid doc gave too low a dose of an antibiotic which was the right one was working lovely felt way better on it but not fully better n the bug wasn't fully dead n grew back resistant. I went on an antibiotic marathon n nothing touched it. This is why they warn so much about resistance coz it's not easy to get rid of it. I was pretty much fobbed off by my doc coz my x ray is 'clear'. It's unreal it doesn't always show up on xray. Iv had lots chest infections last 2 years none showed on x ray except one very serious infection. They were all still infections though and antibiotics cured them. It seems if it's not on a 'test' its in your head. My whole left lungs in spasm tight uncomfortable. I need this bug out of my body. I'm wrecked with fatigue and can't think straight.it's like a nightmare.

Iv app with respiratory specialist in morning I just hope he can get it sorted. Do ct scan blood culture bronchoscopy whatever's necessary to get rid of it. Dunno if anything will actually work on it coz it's resistant, that's the problem. It has to be damaging my lung tissue being there that long regardless of how low in strength the bacteria are its still overgrowth n they're making me unwell. My whole life's on hold. I just go from bed to work. I'm on my third virus now too on top of that since Dec iv had heavy colds. Just goes then another one starts. I'm miserable. Just hope this one doesn't turn as nasty as the last one. It's just so unfair. Iv coughed so much my throat must be eroded away or damaged geez.

Hopefully your doc will sort you out tomorrow. Let us know how you get on.
