Post ablation

Is there anyone who has had a successful ablation after previously being treated with Amioderone. If so how long did you stay on Amioderone following the ablation, if at all?

I was frequently given intravenous amiodarone when I ended up in A&E to get control of the arrythymia. I was prescribed the pills when it became clear an ablation had failed simply to keep me out of A&E and to get me to the next consultants appointment and next ablation. The cardiologists were never keen for the amiodarone to be used long term in my case. Si in answer to your question I was on amiodarone for about 3 months all told at a declining dosage. Hope that helps. Why do you ask?

I have had what I believe was a successful ablation, but the consultant wanted me to continue the Amiod for 2 months, but to be honest I am having so many side effects i am desperate to come of it.

I didnt chose an ablation. I take Amiodarone 200 once daily but for this year I cut them in half. My doc said I could stay on them for 5 years, so now I think I can double that time. They keep me completely free of AF, Other drugs they tried didnt work. I do NOT read the leaflet, so I dont imagine I have side effects !
