Hi
5 months after surgery I'm getting shooting pains towards the top of the tendon, slight swelling no bruising but it is sore. Any thoughts?

Yes. I had a Z-lengthening in November. I have severe spasms from sciatic nerve damage but having said that, I still have alot of pain. 10 months, rah. I honestly think its ok, but I know that doesn't help you now. See yourdr for help. I had tendonitis about 5 months post op that caused alot of pain. No bruising but swelling. Very tender and shooting pain. It was diagnosed via an ultrasound sound. My heel was very swollen and shocking pain I had terrible swelling post op. So, I think if it's concerning you, see dr. I was put on celebrex and careful weight bearing after tendonitis diagnosis. Hope this helps.

I had a peroneal tendon "Stop" procedure (they spliced the longus and brevis together) on July 1 - so I'm about 11 weeks out. Of course, go to your physician and follow up with him. Rehab is such a balance between effort, work, stretches on one side: and overwork and possibly sabotaging the surgery on the other. My doctor said that although most of the healing would take place in the first four (4) months, the healing would not be complete until a year and a half (18) months later. Also, after 18 months I would have all the flexibility and strength possible. After that point, the ankle's mobility is "maxed out." For me the takeaway is to rehab daily, gently and patiently. And err on the side of caution. With the very best medical input possible. I hope you feel better soon, and don't let your limbs steal your joy!

can you see the pic of my surgery. My heel was swollen so swollen it looked like a plum. I was in ICU for 10 days, having a nerve pain infusion for 5 days + PCA morphine + endone and others. I'd haqd sciatic nerve adhesions surgery the year before and had horrendous nerve pain. I was rating my Achilles tendon surgery 20/10 day 3 post op and desperately trying to rip off the cast. The ICU dr came and split it out even though it had room to swell already. Worst pain I've ever had and I've had alot of surgery!
