Post Achilles tendon repair surgery small gap between tendon

Post Achilles tendon repair surgery after 1st week I tripped and fell on my injured leg, it was quite painful at the time but lain went away. Next day had my follow up appointment and doctor noted that there is a small gap between tendons. Did not do any tests like pressing calf etc. or ultrasound just finger touched the area and sent me to get my leg back in cast for another two weeks, no angle was increased or something? is it the right way to deal with it or a bit charlatan and i should insist for the second opinion and get ultrasound done and another surgery if needed? my logic says there should be no gap at all. any advise is appreciated
