Post ankle surgery sneaker recommnedations

I'd like to ask what type of ankle/foot surgery you had and how long it's been since your surgery?

I'd love to hear what sneaker everyone wears for their daily wear. Thanks everybody!

My ankle was broken in 3 places

2 breaks on outside bone plus another on other side

My ankle was totally unstable Left foot

I had several screws to repair broken bone on outside, plate and long stabilizing screw going through back of my ankle

    Its called trimalleur fracture (sp)???

I was in cast for 4 weeks, then boot for another 3-4 weeks with 25% WB

Then I could FWB and began PT

I wear Skeecher slip on sneakers

Id say it took about 12 weeks to walk w/o boot or crutches

I broke all 3 bones in my ankle ( what Sandra ) and It's been 6 and a half months for me . I'm able to wear regular shoes or flip flops. everyday and can actually wear a 2 inch heel if I'm not doing a lot of walking. I was never a sneaker wearer . I wore sketcher slip on sneakers while recovering with a good arch because I developed that fasciittis. I couldn't find anything to wear that got rid of the pain, It was the only style and type of footwear that got rid of the pain and pretty quickly I must say. I no longer have that problem. While recovering I tried on a kajillion shoes and sneakers. Out of all the sketchers and other kinds of shoes , these slip ons were the best. They had the support and an arch you can feel. They were the best. I got them in Kohls.

    **Hi John,

I have tried so many, but seems the Skecters are what work best. I still feel my ankle twist and turn and its stil painful. Always will be , but at least I can get them on my foot! I have tried KEENS , NIKE, and some others .. you get the point.

All I can say is get to a store that might sell different brands and try on. All of them. Walk , rock and roll your feet.... you should be able to tell by that.

    Good luck! **

Looks like 3 of us likes the sketchers and none of us know each other and found that on our own, so that's a pretty good recommendation.

I'm wearing asics. The physio said to get a firm sneaker. To test, twist the shoe with both hands (one at the toe and one at the heel) and if it bends in the middle, it is not firm enough. I tried a bunch of different brands at a random sneaker store to get ones that have a low enough cuff to go around the screws in my ankle.

The asics have been very comfortable, and I have started back to running, for the past two weeks, and they are great.

I have been wearing and sticking with Keen brand shoes. They have served me well. I have also added superfeet insoles in some shoes.
