Post Aquablation Follow Up Doctor Appointments

Since I am now 2 months out from a successful Aquablation procedure, I am going to ask this group again for their information about what to expect at future doctor follow up appointments. My urologist had a one month follow up with only an ultrasound to check for any urine retention. There was nothing indicated by this and the remainder of the appointment was just him asking if everything seemed ok. He then said that there would be a follow up visit at 8 months and again at a year. He didn't mention anything past that, but I am wondering what anyone has encountered at these follow up visits and if they are even necessary if all appears to be fine.
Thanks

Hi Randy - I'm now about seven months past a successful aquablation, which was done in mid-December. I'm feeling great - urinary function is perfect; no remaining sexual side effects at all. Sometimes I wake once a night to urinate; sometimes not at all. During the day I have perfect control, and my urination is of a normal frequency with no urgency issues, no difficulty starting a urine stream, and no difficulty emptying the bladder completely. I consider the procedure a total success, and I'm really glad I had it done.
I had my first follow up about a month after the procedure, mid-January, just to check in. At that point I was still recovering. I still had some blood in urine, I had a slight infection causing swollen testicles, and I had not yet been OK'd to resume exercise or sexual activity. I was put on antibiotics which cleared up the swollen testicles, I was told I could exercise when I felt up to it, and I was told to wait two more weeks before sex. I did what I was told, and everything is now working perfectly.
Another follow up was about four months post-procedure (April), at which point everything was fine. They checked for urine retention, which was nil, and the PSA level was retested at 2.0, which was a huge decrease from pre-procedure levels. The doc said come back in another year (scheduled for next April) , at which point I will have another PSA test and, I think, another DRE . My understanding is that my doc will be recommending annual checkups and PSA tests going forward until age 75, assuming no additional or new problems. I'm not really sure I think the annual checkups should be necessary, but I guess it's better to catch any issues before they get out of control. I'm planning to attend the appointment(s), but I am a little skeptical as to whether any further checkup should be needed if I'm still feeling OK, particularly if the PSA remains low.
Glad to hear your procedure was also a success. Good luck - Ed

I had Aquablation on 6/5/23. Follow-up visit with the surgeon at 8 weeks on 7/26/23. They checked for urinary (bladder) retention post voiding.
I will have a PSA test in November, 2023 with a follow-up a week later.
I had 3 lesions on MRI but with 19 biopsies and no cancer he just wants to do a follow-up regarding this.
That is all that I know of at this point
