Post bunion surgery and falling, anyone ever Reinjured your surgical foot?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had bunion surgery 10 days ago. I had several screws and a titanium Plate fused to my metatarsal joint.

I fell with the knee scooter and slammed my surgical foot on the living room carpet. It was painful! I did call the doctor. Of course it happened on the weekend and he is out of town. Next x rays in a week. Seem to be alright just more swelling. Did anyone here ever have a mishap and was alright after it?

I am non weight bearing for 4 weeks, age 51, and I have a knee scooter. It only fell because I over turned it and reached for something I dropped. I was over confident in my scooter skills. 😂

Oh and I was not wearing my surgical shoe! It was just a bathroom run...now I am wearing it everytime I move. Please share your stories....hoping I will be ok. It doesn't hurt more. Dr took a wait and see attitude. He said the plate is in pretty good...but Wear your surgical shoe boot! 😕

I had a fall a bit ike yours. two titanium screws, bunion and hammertoe done.I fell also about 10 weeks after without the surgical shoe, so i had to put all the weight on the bad foot not to hurt my self in the fall. It was hurting like crazy, felt strangely soft and mouchy when the foot hit the ground with all that weight and more swollen several days after. Also on weekend and the doctor on vacation, but everything was fine when I came to the check up....so I suggest don´t worry until you know if there is anything to worry about :-) Good luck!

I had bunion surgery 4 weeks ago, age 63, I have fallen off my knee scooter several times, so I’ve decided to quit using it altogether. I just walk on my heal, (which is very sore just after a few days) I don’t walk around much at all but the first time I fell off it (5 a.m. after surgery) I tore my rotator cuff, so they say, I didn’t go to an Orthopedic Surgeon, but this past Monday I did see a surgeon and her looked at the SAME X-rays and said you can’t see a torn rotator on an X-ray, you need an MRI. But he could see that 3 bone spurs had pushed the ball joint down so far, he didn’t know how I was even moving my arm, plus my humorous has a hairline crack and I need surgery and once he gets in he can fix the torn rotator that he’s sure I have because of the lack of range of motion in my arm.  So that same day I got home and my foot was swollen and purple so I iced it. Now it’s been 24 hours and it still throbbing with my heartbeat and swollen & BLUE! I have an appt. Monday but I’m thinking I should try to get in tomorrow if I can. The pain is horrible. And of course the last pain meds we’re gone 10 days ago!!

Did your foot heal after reinjuring it or did you have to have another surgery??

I hope you were okay after your fall. Was your foot okay when you went to your appointment after that fall? I had my bunion surgery 12 days ago, on my right foot, and I fell tonight. I am 51. I lost my balance on a bathroom run with my crutches and didn't have my boot on. It is throbbing some and feels swollen. I have it elevated and am icing it.. but my Doctor said to come in Monday for xrays. However, the first question they asked me was if my toe had turned on the fall. How are you feeling 4 months later?
