I have the best ophthalmological care. I just want to know if this is normal after a cataract op (I am 78) and if the dark skin and broken veins will improve in time.

If you have the best opthalmological care then they should be in the best position to answer your question.

Hi Patricia,
I don't have broken veins but I have darkened skin all around my eyes but that's from the drops for glaucoma. They say if you wipe around your eyes after inserting the drops the dark coloration will lessen, but it hasn't much for me as yet. I'm 78 also. I had 2 cataract ops in October and November 2019.

Thanks for replying. I have the same problem with darkened skin around my eyes from the drops for Glaucoma and don't think that will go away if we keep using the drops. I was told by my specialist that my eye pressure would decrease after the cataract ops but this seems not to have happened much to my disappointment and I have to continue using the drops. How bad is your Glaucoma?

Thank you for your response. The darkened skin was such a shock to me. It shocked my grandkids on the webcam. The little one was scared to look at me, so I have to wear glasses to hide it. The look has also aged me by 10 years and is very demoralizing. Yes my doctor agreed that the pressure eases after cataract surgery, but he didn't tell me if my pressure has or has not decreased. He wants me to stop one of the drops entirely and see me in 3 months to find that out and to see how the pressure is, but I'm leery about that. How did your doctor come to the conclusion that your eyes did not decrease? I'm very interested to know. I thought they went by the numbers.
I have open-angle glaucoma in my left eye and exfoliation glaucoma in my right eye. The pseudo-exfoliation-syndrome came shortly before the cataract surgery. The exfoliation caused a bit of damage to my optic nerve confirmed by the visual field test. My left eye is normal except for the glaucoma. I use Latanoprost Timolol in both eyes once at night and Simbrinza in my right eye twice a day. What drops are you using? It sounds like we are similar.
