Post-Cataract Surgery, Still Hurts

PMR for almost 2 years, on 6.5 mg pred.
Any PMR or steroid connection to slow healing eye? It's been 2.5 weeks post-surgery left eye. Dr says eye is fine. Vitamin or herbal suggestion for healing? Anybody else experience this? Thanks so much....

Unfortunately no cataract surgery experience.... I wish. Not blind enough yet for NHS!
When I was taking Pred. for PMR I found, as do so many, that I bruised incredibly easily so maybe not surprising that healing can be slower than normal too. Hope someone comes along with more relevant experience. Good that your doctor is happy with the eye. Hope it doesn't take too much longer.

I haven't had cataract surgery either - I wish - but i have heard other PMR patients say that it took a few weeks for the discomfort to fade and this study
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3716556/
confirms that, with a small number of patients having pain for up to 6 weeks. Had your doctor noticed if you have dry eyes? That might make it feel worse.

Thank you Eileen and BettyE. The support feels good, and the article supports my idea that I will heal, but slower than most. Much appreciated!

I have had PMR fora year now and still on12mg prednisone. I'm a 70 year old male and my cataracts have advanced rapidly over the past year so now I will be seeing an eye surgeon in December. I have a history of dry eyes.
Thanks for posting your experience as I will now be prepared for a slow healing period. I will certainly alert the doctor of my concerns.
Good luck to you and please keep us posted of your recovery.

Last June due to GCA on 60.g pred. Whilst reducing had cataract op in Nov. I had no problems with healing. Make sure you use the eye drops they give you.
I would say i was taking 20mg last nov. But unsure of exact dose.

Thanks so much Val. Glad for your easy recovery. I had a shot instead of using drops. That's what most of the docs are doing now, here in California. Patience...

Get them to check that you aren't allergic to one of your prescribed drops. My mother-in-law reacted badly to one prescribed to her and a change in prescription sorted the problem.
Pred shouldn't affect this I don't think. My husband recently had a corneal transplant in one eye and he is using prednisolone drops every day, it's to prevent tissue rejection.

Oh just saw you aren't using drops. Perhaps you do need some sort of drops, like artificial tears. Ask your eye doctor.
