Post concussion symptoms?

3 yrs ago I was in a head on collision on the highway and as a result I had a minor concussion and had post concussion symptoms for about 6 months.

I was doing fine up until 3 months ago when I got a huge migraine, took an Imitrex, had a bad reaction to the Imitrex and had a panic attack at work. I had to go to the ER because I thought I was dying but all tests turned out fine. Ever since then, my head hasn't felt right, I've had horrible anxiety, head pressure, dizziness, trouble concentrating... My question is can post concussion symptoms come back years later? Or is it just horrible anxiety? I've had anxiety pretty much all my life but don't think it's ever been this bad.

Hi sounds like you have been really struggling and no matter whether it's as a result of anxiety it's still just as scarey and can be incredibly hard to deal with.

No I don't think that it was a result of your past mild concussion as usually that would perhaps last at most 10 days or so and 3 years is a touch too far

All the symptoms you have spoken about are and can be attributed to anxiety, the mind is an incredibly powerful tool that can and does create symptoms that can mimic everything from a heart attack, brain tumours etc

Because you have had the tests and they have come back normal then you should bear that in mind but if you are still worried then book an appointment with your doctor and discuss your fears

Thank you so much for your response! You're right, anxiety is scary and it is crazy what it can do to your body. Hopefully that's all it is, just wish it would go away already! I made an appt with the neurologist just in case 🤞

I'm sure that those test will also prove to be OK and what's possible that when you have had confirmation that alls well in that area you could then move onto something else to focus on.

What you need to do is ask for psychological help to conquer your anxiety and give you the confidence to move on with the rest of your life because anxiety is a killer not of your physical life but of your mental health

I hope you find the strength to move on

Do you mind me asking how old you are
